All I know for sure, is that without ebay I wouldnt have had nearly as many cool used RC's as I have owned.

I'll keep buying on Ebay, always find rare and amazing stuff. I bought a Kavan FK-50 twin on it some years ago, a jewel. But the fees for sellers have to be brought back to reality.

One of my clients has a 'cabin' (8K square feet) on Torch Lake near Traverse City, and Meg Whitman's is 3 doors down. See her walking her dog once in a while. Megabux.

Really? Try it without knowledge & common sense and let's see how well it works out for you. ESPECIALLY in this economy. Several big ebay sellers went out this summer. Seems their sheer volume or massive amount of feedback didn't save them. Why not?

How exactly does the fact that some large ebay sellers went out of business relate to the question of whether you get a better rate for bulk selling?

Really? Did you just ask that?

Genius 1 said - "You volume gets you that rate, not your knowledge."

I simply implied IN A RESPONSE TO THAT STATEMENT that simply throwing money at something to sell in volume IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. The proof of that was 2 big sellers going belly up this summer. How the heck could you read more into that than was written?

And Einstein, I have not said ONE time I don’t get better rates for being a bigger seller.

But when Genius 1 stands up on his soap box and says “eBay rips everyone off on fees, I am the greatest pilot of all time, therefore only my opinion counts and I feel, based on ZERO facts or comparative data, that eBay fees should be 3%”, I simply replied that I don’t pay those types of fees he is crowing about.

And here is where it has gotten us….

To the fella who won’t EVER use eBay anymore…  AWESOME! Don’t let the door hit you. For every PIA like him, there are 1000 new, more reasonable buyers come in and sign up.  Seeee Ya Bubba!

This is a forum, and bashing ebay as some choose to do is no big deal.

But why is anyone bashing taz? A member of this RC community? He throws out some facts and you guys act like he is either the enemy, or stupid.

Why bash taz?  Ebay started out as a way for ordinary people to sell their personal items nationally instead of just locally.  Thanks to their desire for profit (money, money, money) and people like tax that original concept has been ****ized almost ot the point of nonexistance.  I don't blame taz, just as I don't blame Mitt Romney for taking advantage of eevry tax shelter our freeloading respresentatives in DC have given him.  And that wasn't meant to start a political discussion - it is another example of greed.

Personally I wish ebay would eliminate the "Buy it NOW" only sellers and force everyone back to legitimate auctions.

I'm not sure what this gets us, honestly. I like the Buy It Now feature as a seller, so I don't get my products sniped in an auction.

I like Buy it Now as a buyer, so I don't have to "watch" the product, wait for the @#$@ auction to end (and potentially miss it if I'm on vacation with the family, or reading to the kids at night, or doing any number of other things that snipers don't), then try to get in at the last minute and not have a sniper take it away.

BIN is necessary since folks figured out the whole sniping thing. If BIN prices are too high, you can look elsewhere.

You two (Eddie and Taz) need to knock it off. I don't see how both of you pumping your egos is going to help either one of you.

As for the original posters statement. Man don't sweat the small stuff most people on ebay can tell that a negative claim is bogus or not just by the language of the negative feedback. You can't let one bad apple spoil the basket just throw it out and move on. I know its irritating to deal with people like that but usually its to their own demise anyway. My advice is you can either spend time trying to seek and destroy one individual or you can use that same time and gain more and productive customers or products. I see this all the time in our business, when a guy wants to prove a point, all he usually does is hurt hisself.

Here is another thought about ebay for everyone to chew on too. If you don't like it don't use it, if their sales go down enough they'll change their practices and at that time you can either decide to be a returning customer or not. Its America no one has a gun to your head telling you to use eBay. If you hate it that much make your own auction site!

Just need to realize that there are people in this world that will never be happy no matter what someone does for them.

Let it go and move on!!

P.S. When I surf E Bay, I will ONLY get stuff when "Buy it Now" is offered, auctions are a waste of my time and effort.

(My personal opinion)

pretty much
I'm sick of auctions when I'm shopping.
wouldn't hate them as much as I do if it wasn't for auction sniper. That IMO killed it, and honestly I refuse to use it

Exactly. Someone should start another online auction site with flat fees (3%), lower rates for extras, and no ripping off sellers on shipping fees. That will do for a start.

For those who doubt the 20+% fees, see my post #81. 22.6% after they round up the FV fee (10%+) , insertion and shipping FV fees. Nitro, you seem level-headed about all this, kudos.  But the numbers speak for themselves. After my last round of diecast and RC selling, I'm done with them as a seller.

Taz, it's too bad you resort to name-calling and belittling instead of listening and then making a valid point. I doubt you've gained any customers with such juvenile antics.

In your infinate wisdom you don't even realize how many others tried to steal eBays thunder with ultra low fees and all that. They are all either gone or have neear zero traffic. eBid, Ioffer, Webstore, Webdeals, etc. All toast or no traffic.  But you got yhour wish, they have super low rates!

You are truly dense. There is no additional shipping FV fees! Good God man. the final FVF is the total sale, not two separate fees! And FYI, when ebay changed to that system, many of us actually now pay LESS fees because the % went down. Except for you of course, you are the only jobber to pay 29% out there. Ah heck, what do I know. I have a cumliative feedback of over 50,000 counted and near 70,000 total. I haven't a clue.

You mean I didn't gain any new customers pointing out that sellers like you would have to gouge them on price point because you are too short-sighted to save money on your operating expenses?
And for the record, the ebay store Taz Hobbies was a project I started for my son  (my son's coaches nicknamed him Taz for his be in 2 places at teh same time, kicking up dust, speed on the field) to teach him and allow him to learn how to operate a profitable e-commerce business. My 3 main businesses don't really need any help, but thanks for asking.

Once again, you don't know what you're talking about, Taz.  I get billed a FV fee on the sale, and a Shipping FV fee after I post shipping charges on the invoice. The Shipping FV fee is a ADDITIONAL 9%, and is in addition to the insertion fees, FV fees of 9%, and Paypal fees of 3%. I lump Paypal into the equation because they are owned by Ebay  and they work hand-in-hand.  I'm sur the fees re much less in you case.

Anyone who wants to see a class act, look at Taz's RCU ratings: 11.76% Poor. Tsk, tsk...  In his text, he admits he'll 'fib' to get his way. Classy! Drops the F-bomb, too. How mature!  If you do read it, have a beverage handy. Pretty long...

Eddie,
I don't know if you want to keep pushing the subject and ask for reasonable reply
Obviously some people can't see past thair ego and can't write a sentence without bragging about how well they are doing for themselves and how the rest of the people are just stupid. Sad part is most of the time they don't represent anything of themselves and this is the only way they can feel good

Dude, get over youself... the fee is 9% FOR THE FULL SALES AMOUNT. That is SALES PRICE and SHIPPING together. What a knucklhead you are dude. You are trying to make it sound like you are getting hit twice. It's 9% TOTAL.....

Let me help you....  $10 sale price with free shipping = 9% or $0.90
                                   $5.00 sale price with $5.00 Shipping = 9% or $0.90
It's the same number guy... You just like to sensationalize it and make it sound worse.

And yes, look at my ratings, and pay special attention to the negative & neutral feedback because it means so much. I mean it's always so accurate and factual from people like Eddie who are blind as a bat.

Seriously, the feedback is so damn accurate. Like Eddies twin brother who left us a neg this morning because the day AFTER he made a purchase he remember his shipping address was incorrect. Too bad that his brian could not compute the fact that his package was shipped the day BEFORE he realized HIS mistake. 4 phone calls with that dimwit to help him contact USPS and put in an address forward. Even with the forward it only took 5 days to get his item. His Mistake, 4 phone calls, an hour of my time and that mouth breather leaves a neg?  LOL.... Eddie.... tell your brother to come back to reality will ya?

You're just a troubklemaker Eddie who think he knows everything and tried to make everything sound worse than it is. Don't hate me bro cause I make a living on ebay. Don't hate me because I paid more in taxes last year than you and your cousin haikt here made. It's all good bubba.

Some of you guys realize you're sounding really full of yourselves at this point, don't you? It's coming off as an incredibly egotistical pissing match.

Ok, lets look at economics 101. Love Ebay or hate them they charge what the market will bare. A business will never stay in business by looking at their bills and charging %5 over that. What they charge depends solely on what people will pay. Want to change Ebay fee's? Get the 20 some million users to stop using them and they will change, they'll have too to stay in business. Thats why we should never offer bail outs for businesses. They should fail if their not keeping their customers happy. It's the market. If your sick of Ebay, quit complaining about it and make your own web site and charge what ever you want...Like I always say, if it's so easy then you do it...BTW I do own my own brick and morter business...

I'm in a bad place financially, so I have sold $800 worth of my stuff to get by, ebay charged somewhere around $90 in fees.

yeah it sucks, but they do make selling easy, and they do give you some safety when buying or selling things.

No, it's not. You're ignoring the FACTS again.

20 items, sales total: $877.49 .  FV Fees $90.95 (10.36%, Bueller. Why? Due to their rounding up on each item. It all adds up!)  Insertion fees: $12.00.  Shipping FV fees:  $15.75 (Not all items had shipping added, those that did were 9% of shipping invoiced. Ebay spells it out in their fine print).  Paypal fees $26.32 (3%).
Total fees: $145.02  Total sales:  $877.49  Fees:  16.5%

For such a whiz-bang internet entrepreneur, you sure have trouble with the simplest math, bubba.

I sent this message (maybe not the best, but I was still holding back)

The truck was missing what was stated in my ad. The steering hub includes the stub axle, nut, ball. These items were not pictured in my ad either. You seem to be quick to find issue with the sale. You are unhappy with the shipping time, even tho you recieved it in a very timely manner. I PAID EXTRA (my money) to have it shipped faster than was promised in my ad. Most ebayer's would appreciate that! You accused me of saying you didnt pay on time. I never said any such thing. Ebay has all my messages to you on record. You want to make an issue over the shocks...which were not leaky nor bent, yet you didnt notice I added $30 worth of rear tires. My ad stated NO rear tires were included. But when packing up the truck I found a set of good step pin tires and threw them in. That will be the last time I throw in freebies!I gave you extras. Doesnt seem to matter to you tho. You only want to find fault. My ad didnt say the truck was "race ready", it said it was in good shape. Try finding another T3 that has as little wear as that one.You can leave neg feedback. Thats your right as a buyer. I sell over 1500 rc items a year. I currently have 100% positive feedback. Thats alot of happy buyers. 1 negitive feeback from a buyer who I couldnt make happy no matter what wont bother me much.I am sorry this wasnt a plesant transaction.
