Greetings

Soon i want to buy an On-Road car.

My desicion is between an HPI RS4 evo+ or the Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec.
My personal favorite at the moment is the Nitro 4-Tec because i like the bodyshell and it reaches 100kmh out of the box. But the main problem is , someone on YouTube said that the Traxxas 3.3 engines are crap?!
If they aren't (i'm asking you) i think i'll buy the 4-Tec

Thanks

I got the hpi rs4 3 evo + i think traxass is crap lol. But its one you the 4tech has a bigger engine and easy start. I heared the easy start goes out after a while. Ive also heared that the hpi turns better and handles real well this question has been asked several times on this forum.

Go with the HPI. It might not be as fast as the 4Tec out of the box, but its an overall better car.

The HPI offers alot more upgrades. I have had both cars and i still have my RS4.

If you go with the HPI, upgrade the motor when you get a chance. The stock one isnt that good and doesnt hold a tune well.

HPI in my opinion is a better built car and parts availability is very good, not to mention that ugly grey plastic the 4tec comes with lol.
You can make the HPI as fast as you want to with some modifications

Other than buying a new engine (big money), what are some of the ways you can make the RS4 faster than the 4-Tec? I'm considering buying a Jato 3.3 at some point, but have always had an interest in the RS4. Just looking to hear about its capabilities (other than durability, which I imagine the RS4 is much more durable). However, I'm asking about flat-out speed. Thanks

An aftermarket engine isnt too expensive. The OS18 CVRX is under $200.

If you want pure speed, get an engine modified.

If you want to add some power without a new engine, get a new pipe and filter. You can also change your gearing.

I would go right for the OS engine, dont even waste your time with the stock engine. Pull it out of the car without using it and sell it brand new.

You can take the stock engine and make a nice paper weight.
Get a nice O.S 18tz they run hard (be sure to get a good tuned pipe to match). and get the lowest gearing you can on the two speed 19/23-37/41 I believe.
Should run real good after that and it's not too expensive.

If you want to get silly with it you can put a big block in it but that is a whole can of worms I don't think you're really looking for.
with the gearing above you can be in the 60's...

The 18tz requires a starter box though, not sure if he wants to spend even more money.

The 18CVRX is a pull start, nothing else required.

Have you considered Associated's NTC3? I raced mine on both flat pavement and Oval track NASCAR style racing and it took some severe beatings and some good solid wins! It's also laid out so it's easy access to everything and easy to clean. I built an HPI RS and I never even started it after I saw the NTC3.

My first RC car is a HPI RS4 3 Evo+. This car is great! It has good power out of the box for a beginner. The handling and braking it fine with me. I'm currently modding mine atm as I speak, carbon fiber parts, cool looking purple parts and looking at upgrading engine.
