That's it. I'm lost as to how I should fix this water issue with my Geico.

I have , 'since last time' pulled out the old Teflon Liner and replaced it hoping it would do better.

I have before that, replaced flex , there are no leaks in the cooling lines ore the boat it self , bushings in the strut replaced, added heat shrink between where the strut and brass tube meets. Lots , medium ore small amount of grease on the flex. And it always ends up with the same.

the pic's show what's up after a 4- 5 min run. Spray on the lid from where the flex enters the hull, and all the grease is phused into the boat ( the flex look like it's been whiped clean)

Now I have a leo 2150kv comming as a gift from a friend for setting up his PNP Mystic , so it would be nice to enjoy the boat before fall and cold weather.

Thanks for looking

what direction is you flex shaft installed?  The way the grease is pushed into the hull like that makes me suspect it is spinning backwards.  The wire wrapped around the flex is like a screw, as it rotates it will move towards one end.  Make sure that end is the prop end, thus pushing water and grease towards the prop, out of the boat.

If the cable was wound backwards it would probably have self-destructed by now. The reason for pushing all the greas and water up the tube is in front of the drive dog - get rid of the large "thrust washer" in front of the drive dog. That is absolutely pushing a lot of water up the cable. It is not needed, just leave one cable diameter of gap between the dog and the strut.

Next, Try slipping a short piece of silicon fuel tubing over the inboard end of the stuffing tube, leave just enough hanging off the end to just barely touch the cable - see photo. That should keep most all the water from coming up the stuffing tube.

It's not easy to se but I have a piece of fuel line over the inboard end of the stuffing tube. Also the washer is a small rubber washer we use at work so the screws don't rub of paint on some plates we have for fuse boxes. On my friends Mystic there is a nylon washer, my geico used to have one to (came with it installed) , lost it and have been running without it, so the rubber washer was just a test to see. I have been using Kintec flex and strutt washer since day one. Changed out the kintec bushing for some teflon ones, but it's just the same.

I will loose it, re grease and hit the pond again, also install a fresh shrink tube over the brass / strutt.

The wound backwards flex was an isue with the Geico, some of them came with the wrong wounded flex, so those lasted like 30 sec, I never ran mine with it, got the kintec/ose flex .But it certainly feels like it's the wrong way.

I can say that my freinds PNP mystic is running the stock setup, and I have greased the flex once, and last night we had pack nr 6 on it, and there was a tiny amount of spray inside(on the tupeware lid) , just like it was on pack nr 4 and 5 , but it's like nothing, barly some drop's. So I will pull out that flex today and se if it's free of grease ore if there is still more on it.

I really hoped changing the nylon insert in the brass would fix it, the stock one seemd worn when I pulled it out , and it was a heck of a challenge getting the new one in without bending it all to hell.

Thanks so far

Stian

If your flexcable is wound as in NobodyFamous picture ... it's the wrong one .... (high-threads on the R)

As it's like Got-RPM it's OK.

Short video. A small storm, Frida is on it's way, so just a 5 min run.

So this is how it was when I came home. Just a small amount of water. Flex was almost free from grease, but no greasespray inside boat, and also the new flex, brand new, had a little 'something' , this was not there before I installed it, checked it good.

Well I feel like dumba..

Today I sat looking at it before I threw into the pond, and started fiddeling with the cooling line, again , and whoa, found a hole in the line just at the water outlet.
Don't know why I have not seen/found it before. Did the needle test, pumping in water , but I quess when the boat is bounching around in the water the water is leaking. There has been a fine healthy water spray from the outlet when I pass by , but it has to been leaking good.

Still curious as to how the water form a spray pattern, and grease is at the flex exit inside the boat ( Not today though)

But anyhow, I want to give a preliminary thanks ( hope it will hold up now)

HendricX. I know. Not sure why I did not see the crack in the line before, belive me I have been looking. But when I pulled the line last night, I stretched it and it broke of, and the remaining tube was showing where the hole was ( se pic)

Diy-Pro.

Short story. Last spring, my friend got his MG and I still had my china boat. We went of to test it,and drive together. I said, I take inside, you go outside so we don't crash. First thing he do is to run me over , hehe. So my 'china' boat looks a little beat'n , but no worry I said I'll fix it up.
two day's later he makes a call and said, hey, I have another geico in the mail, you come pick mine up, it's your's for the damage I did, and you help me pick out parts for my new geico to make it faster.

So what I have into this boat. Hmm, I got a leo 4074 2000kv and some props, and kintec flex ,bushing and offsett rudder . And lipo's, that's about it, boat was for free.I think you can get a 'bare' hull of the miss geico if you search ebay etc.

the mystic/geico is the same hull, a tadd more kv on the stock motor in the Mystic, and the strutt/rudder design is better on the mystic. My friends pnp is running good on the stock 1800kv motor and a prather 220 prop. Next upgrade is a Leo 4074 2150 kv to run on 4s. And you know what, he got two, one for me to, for the work I have done on his PNP, what a great guy. :-)

Man that sure is a friend for sure. Run my boat over anytime! Im about to do some searching for the hull i was thinking the leopard 4082 2000kv but def have some time before i save up the cash its going to cost for my whole first brushless setup. So long story short your leak problem is fixed. How much water was it that collected in the whole each time? Im sure everyone was skeptical about the flex cable letting that much water in lol

At the most this :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75ONVwNFm_o&list=UURNlga8sE0qJBcPb_5FFovQ&index=24&feature=plpp_video

but I'm still curious about why / how the spray pattern on the lid was formed, and why grease was pushed up.

that small amount of water and grease coming through there is normal because of the screw effect. no need to worry about it now with the sleeve. did you have enough tube left to reconnect it or you just replacing it? You solved that now whats next? whens the 2150 coming and what are the dimesions of them both?! Is this your first boat?!

The grease was splattered out of the flex tube just after minut's of running. Last night when I found the problem, no water ore grease splatter in the boat. If it stay's that way I'm happy.

I got a Surge Crusher a few years back, and did some mods to it., you 'll find it at my youtube account, and then I have the geico. that's it.

the leo should be here in a week ore so. Can be fun :-)
