I just want to tell everyone how impressed I am with the K140. I put it in a old rookie I have, that had a P120 in it, the 140 runs flawlessly, 5 hrs on it and the power is amazing. I had a guy come up to me yesterday that sees me fly jets all the time and said ( man that jet is fast) he couldn’t believe it when I told him that I was flying most of the time at ½ throttle except the up lines. Barry’s service is second to none. Thanks Barry

My 170 just likes to run as well, I fly around 1/2 to 3/4s myself and very rare to fly full throttle unless its a low pass

+1. Other than a sticky fuel pump have had a lot of fun with the K140F in my Futura...doesn't sound as good as my P160SX though.

Don't mean to bring out the truth, but esthetics has got to be the culprit here, my K-140F sounds better than any JetCat.

I have a P120SX rated at 31# thrust and the Kingtech K140 rated at 31# the Kingtech puts out way more than the JC at 5400ft. There is no comparison between the two. The Kingtech spools up so much faster and the power is amazing.

If one is building a fiberclassics eurofighter with a 90mm inlet bi pipe and 60mm outlets that was going to install a super eagle, would the 140 be enough, or would the 170 be better. I have just restarted building the euro and trying to decide on a140 or 170.
Joe, what is the takeoff weight of your f15? It looks like the 140 pushes it plenty.

Lormuhl

The 140 is more then enough for the F-15. Take off weight with the center line drop/smoke tank is around 30 pounds. The is 32 oz of smoke oil in the center line tank and I carry about 120 oz of fuel.

Most of the flight I am at half throttle or a click or two over except on the vertical climbs.

I like the color of the new K180 and K100 much better. Hope they switch the whole product line over.

When I tested my 140 's at 7400ft the thrust loss was only 10% from the advertised thrust, everything else I have tested lost around 20%. So the engines that I have tested have under rated the thrust.

I noticed that I can actually hear my 170 rpm changes much better than my last turbine. Its nice to hear those rpm changes, lets me know before hand if my power is going to be there.

My 140’s sound like an afterburner kicking in when I go to full power. I used to have to put power in a little before the up line, but with the 140’s I just put it in at show center and pull up.

We put a pair of K-140Fs in my MIBO A-10 Warthog last fall with a few flights before storage in my office for the winter. After 7 months in storage we could not get one of the turbines to preheat so call Barry. The next day we had a complete NIB turbine which started and ran perfectly at the first attempt. Subsequently been to the Litchfield A/P twice where both blowers have started & run flawless every time….great transition, perfect power at half throttle for cruising with unlimited vertical performance at full throttle.

Thanks Barry for keep our Hawg in the sky, Roger
