The end of September is getting close!!! The flyer has been posted for the NMPRA Fall Gold Cup race at OJA. See the link below to view the flyer and pre register.

This will be a 2 day race for both Q40 (AMA422) and Sport Quickie (AMA424). They will run 1 round of 424 then 1 round of 422, and so on. The goal is for 8 total rounds for each event.

The field will be open for practice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Load the car up and come to North Carolina for some of the best racing around. Hotels are listed on the OJA website.

I hope you guys don't mind if I come. Bill Johanson has talked me into coming. It's been so long since I raced that I will probably just get in the way. I will try not to be a problem for you fast guys.

A lot of dust had collected on the racer that I flew the last time I was there. I cleaned it off and put the servos back in it. Gave it a couple of flights. Flying the roller coaster course. I have a lot of practice to do. Now to come up with a decent engine.

At least I still have 3 weeks to back out.

All is well down here. I have two 424 planes that kinda fly and a couple of old beat up PRO 40's and I am really looking forward to coming to the Old Julian to race. I will be in town Thurs night so I can practice on Friday as the last three pole course I was on was Mulberry back in March.

OK everybody, it is getting close to go time here in NC!!!! Below is the list of pilots already registered. We need to get more pilots!!! If you know someone is coming and they have not pre-registered, post them here and have them go to the OJA website linked above and get it done.

With races being held at Bowie again, the mid Atlantic coast is getting better and better for pylon racing.

Well, I sent the laser cutting out for 3/16 sheet sides and got 3/8 instead!! Sanded it down a lot but she is still about 1/8 inch wider than spec!! Hard to bend 3/8 to that shapely curve!!!

Tuna Can???? Hmmm...Let me think now....! Add some balsa and a firewall of course peal the label off for drag purposes..... I can see it!!! Should I go V tail or "T" tail??????

Only got one round of 422 and 424 today before the rains washed us out.

Tomorrow the first heat goes off at 8 am.

Should be a great day of racing.

I had a great time at the race Saturday was rainy but Sunday was a great day for racing and they got in a total of five rounds in both classes.

The first five finishers in 422

I am sure someone will be along in this thread or another with the complete results and times.

Mike Langlois and Jim Katz hosted a great event and the Old Julian Airport Race Course is quickly becoming one of the premier three pole racing sites in the East. The food was great the help and comradery was priceless.
