I said "for me" ie that means delevered to me, from China and the USA.

Here is a great tip to get even better value fro HobbyKing and thanks for reminding me and others.
Select an item and leave the page open for a few moments and they offer you an instant discount so the price of the Sullivan reduces from $69.95 to  $65.79.
Great eh!!!

WOW-I just got the new sales catalog in from HK -I have been looking for a Sullivan Glow Driver 3 cylinder-Tower's price $99.95- HK's price $69.95-I will order for the savings of $30.00 with some other small items I need

This piqued my interest so I contacted Sullivan about it. I received a reply and was told HK is buying this from Sullivan's overseas dist. and selling it below cost. They are only doing it with a few of their products and Sullivan has tried to stop it but due to the fact it is such a small amount overall so far they have been unsuccessful .
In other words HK is dumping , skirting any regulatory action, and trying to steal market share from other retailers.

Thanks for the warning, better get an order in quick.
Perhaps Sullivan were not giving you the full story
They are implying that they sell to a guy in Italy for example, for 70 dollars he sells it as a grey import to HK for say 75 dollars and HK sells it to us for 65 dollars.
And by regulatory action do you mean protectionism, "vote free market Republican" in November!

That's great, I just placed an order with Headsup RC on Saturday and it will be here on Wednesday. I paid $2.00 for shipping, how much did you pay Hobby King for shipping? I ordered a Formosa II, a new prop balancer, and some props. I can't compare prices with HK since they don't sell the Formosa but the Prop Balancer was one dollar more, is a higher quality unit, and will be here in three days.

I don't order from them anymore as I view Hobby King to be the slot machine of RC hobby vendors, maybe you'll et it and maybe you won't.

OR did you order from USA warehouse?

WHAT US warehouse?  Talked to a pal yesterday who called HK about a broken part on an ARF, he got an RMA# and sent it to the CA address. It has been returned - twice - as 'undeliverable address'.
Has anyone in CA laid eyes on an actual HK storefront?

Well I know the HK US warehouse is in Lakewood, WA just south of Tacoma and next to Steilacoom. I have been to that area many many times but it was before HK ever existed. Funny thing is, no one has actually ever seen the US warehouse but the address is for a UPS store.

As far as I know they have absolutely nothing in Los Angeles but they did show a Port address in Long Beach, CA at one time but that was for importation of toy ballons. Seems to me that any shipments from HK in China would be into the Port Of Tacoma since it is only a few miles from Lakewood.

Sounds like HK is not trlling the truth again. They do that a lot it seems.

Lol. '...a little while'?  Another pal ordered some batteries from HK in Sep-Oct 2012. It's our running joke at coffee Sat mornings, 'Are they here yet.'
He's given up, much quicker to drive to the LHS.

Tell him to order from Heads Up, they are about the same price, $2.00 same day shipping, what more could you ask for?

It's a shame to hear complaints about a supplier that's trying its best, but they have to take the good with the bad.
I've just shown my face here & I doubt anyone will know me. I've been a member for a long while but I run my own forum here in the UK & it takes up all of my time.
I'm not sure about the rules regarding links to other forums, so I'll throw it in at the end of this message to give the mod's a clean job if they have to delete it. .... I did read the rules & I think it's allowed if it's directly constructive to the thread ...... this may be.
One of our most recent members is Scott Cuppello & he works in product development for HobbyKing.
I remember him well from when I was a moderator for RCM&E & he was a member .... but I've never met him & have no connections .... I would hope we could meet up soon as HK are running a fly in here in the UK, just before our BMFA Nationals at the end of August.
If any of your members want to talk to Scott, I'm sure he'll be more that happy.
I've bought a lot of stuff off HobbyKing Uk & they have been brilliant ..... that's before Scott joined my forum, so you must be able to imagine how pleased I am to snag him! ..... don't be pinching him off me now! ... Phil (Polyphilla) http://www.modelchat.org.uk/ (My apologies to the mod's if this isn't allowed)

First off Phil congratulations on being a long time member. I reference to Scott, I assume you are refering to Scott Cuppello, I have talked to him and he was no help. In fact, he became quite contrary when I asked him several questions that HK would rather not answer. In my opinion the only thing they are really trying to improve is how to take peoples money while providing the least amount of customer service possible. So far they are succeding nicely. I realize there are not many hobby distributors in the UK so you rely on the discount vendors overseas. We here in the States are blessed with good choices and they are getting better all of the time. These new discount hobby vendors here in the US means we no longer have to put up with the Slot Machine of ordering from Hobby King in Hong Kong or the unbelievable shipping prices from HK's USA warehouse. All too often airplanes show up damaged or missing parts and it is most often impossible to get replacement parts or any real help from Hobby King. Most of the other suppliers like HeadsupRC provide either very low cost or free same day shipping and if your plane shows up with missing parts they will send you the parts or another plane. They have working phones so we can actually talk to someone who really works there, not an e-chat with some contracted person who knows nothing about what you purchased. No endless photos, weighing packaging, and packing peanuts, the excuse being to keep from being ripped off. The truth is it is to discourage you since no one else makes their customers go through that nutroll.

So sure, provide me with a phone number for Scott and I'll be more than happy to speak with him. Perhaps he can change my mind and perhaps not but we will see. Thanks Phil.

I can understand guys posting in an open forum when HK does something good. It is so far off the norm that they feel bringing it to everyone's attention is appropriate. It's like when an NFL player makes a good play and dances and prances and struts to excess. DUDE, IT'S WHAT YOU'RE GETTING THE BIG BUCKS TO DO!!!!!! C'mon. Act like you'ver been there before. But I do understand that when HK does good, it's so seldom that it might need mentioning.

Sorry guys. Do I get points for trolling? Blame the Devil. He made me do it.

A handful of positive posts about HK proves what...?
Show me 999 consecutive positive posts about their service and then I'll be persuaded.

Keyman,
I read the post before you removed it,, you're so right., but there is no point in confronting these guys, I've tried. They have created a new hobby for themselves. Which is beating up on vendors they dislike and web sites they've been banned from, and the people who like those vendors and websites. They've created their own website to have a place to do it freely. I doubt they even are part of the RC Hobby any longer. One can only hope they get bored soon as it is all getting so old.

Just recieved my order today from HOBBYKING-the King of RC supplies for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bought $400.00 worth of electric stuff-motors, esc's, batteries and a new plane-Ordered on 2/12 and delivered today. Sure a longer wait but the motors, batteries and esc's have all worked well for the past two years I have got-for about a 1/3 to 1/2 the cost from a distributor here with their own label. They are here to stay and everyone should be thanking HK for keeping the prices down.

What we've got here is an obvious mixture of good & bad reviews. Maybe, for the sake of the hobby, we should ask again for a comment from HobbyKing & I'll be happy to volunteer for that job if you guys will accept me for it.
I've only made a few posts here, but I'm starting to get attached to the place & think I could come to like it.
I do have experience of owning my own forum & if it isn't against the rules, here's the link to our Policy Toward Other Forums.... I hope it's Ok by you.
http://www.modelchat.org.uk/forum/general-chat-including-our-fun-thread-the-cafe/13493-our-policy-towards-other-forums#13526
Let me know what you decide .... I'll be glad to use the weight of my forum to squeeze out a few explanations.

Pol.

Us UK blokes don't quite start jumping & clicking our fingers at a successful order, to be honest, most of us wouldn't jump with 4 million Volts through us, but we do like to get our modelling gear on time. We have to get our models ready for the 2 or 3 days a year when it doesn't rain.
