Well, after 8 months, this project has come to a close. I intended on doing a full blown build thread but work requirements really limited my free time. Here are a few pics of where it started and then the finished product. A special thanks to a very supportive and patient owner!!!

I ran out of time to do the stand, hoping to get my hands on a kit for long enough to do one up!

Hey JZ I bet this is yours, right??!

Got any pics of how you did the tail hook? (assume it's an operable swing hook?)

JZ, come out to BTW and let's fly some formation

I am very impressed with what you have done with the A-4. Nice job with the weathering and scale detail. This rivals Eddie's for best ARF A-4 on the planet.

What material did you use for for the vortex generators?

Thanks all for the comments! The Vortex Generators are made from 3/16 styrene plastic, I made a couple programs on the laser to cut them out, made the process a little more painless!!!!

Kevin,

The bulkheads are along story, the Cliffs note version is that when Jaime dropped the plane off, I was doing some preliminary alignment checks and the wings were off with the vertical fin as a reference. Whomever installed the formers at the factory must have had a bad day, the left wing had dihedral and the right had anhedral. It took a while to correct and get everything realingined , not a big deal. Tam sent out new formers, with no questions asked so all is well The plane spent about two weeks on the table getting realigned and squared up, she is all good now

I just put a Robart hinge point in the hook so it can be dropped for static display.

OK, got you. I did the same thing. I was thinking about putting a servo driven spring dampened setup for a functional hook but at some point the madness has to stop and the jet has to be released to the flight Gods and flown repeatedly and enjoyed in that way. Especially a jet of this size - big enough to have fun with but not big enough to go mad on the extras. Nice work!

Hi Chris,

Real nice job on this A-4. I was looking at your radio install and I noticed that you have the antenas running along side each other. If that is a Futaba FASST receiver, I would run one antena 90º away from the other one. You might have a problem with that install the way it is now......

Good Luck.....

Chris just put the rx in there... I'm doing the radio setup and I'll set the antennas up accordingly;-)

Gotta love a plane where the builder has so thoroughly thought out the paths for all the wires, air lines, etc....

What a great build.........can't wait to see vids of it flying.

Beautiful install, one of the neatest, cleanest I've seen! Very, very nice job all the way around, for that matter.
