Well, it's been another 11 days since I have spoken to the woman at RCM Plans and was promised that they will go out that day and I still don't have them. Unless you want to get ripped off don't buy RCM plans. You are better off to get them bootleg.

how can you print plans if you are on the phone or trying to figure out the answering machine? I was going to order some plans but after reading this I will find something else to build.

Guys: I can appreciate the dilemma you have here, but it's not RCU's responsibility nor their requirement to force someone else to follow through with their (RCM's) obligations. Before you use RCU as a source of information, I suggest you contact the Forum Manager, RCKen, and see if what you want to do is within the domain of RCU.

Thanks for understanding.

Does anyone have a copy of the Ultimate 4-120 biplane plans that appeared in RCM magazine in 1993? Also, I'm looking for the Ace 4-120 bipe plans or a kit.

I'd also like to get a copy of the article by Gerry Dale on building the Ultimate workbench. This article appeared in RCM in April 2001.

I also ordered plans from RCM 2 weeks ago, and have not received them, but I have been charged for the plans.

Hi Will,

I can help with the Ultimate Workbench.

If I can venture something to anyone contemplating building a bench, I built a new bench last year but made the dimensions extra deep - 45" x 60" because (1) I needed a new workbench anyway, and (2) I was building a Bruce Tharpe Delta Vortex http://www.btemodels.com/vortex.html which needed a whole lot of extra space.

I didn't use the Ultimate Workbench design because, at the time, I didn't know about it. Perhaps I might have incorporated some of those ideas into my new bench. But if you are considering building an unusually sized model, you might want to modify the dimensions for this Workbench a bit.

Just my $.02

Bob

You're correct - one ISP states the page cannot be displayed, but after remoting into another machine with a different ISP, the site is reachable. It may be a routing problem associated with one of my providers.

Interestingly, it will display in Chrome and Firefox, but not IE9.

That's funny, because I went in with IE9 myself. I wonder what is different.

I remember going on to another website and, like you, I thought that it was down. So, I went in with FireFox and sure enough, it was there.

I remember when I used to build PC's for my work - all custom. Nowadays, I have no clue about what's going on inside those things. I would love to know why my IE9 works and yours doesn't.

And, as I said before, the same thing happened to me on another website, so it's not like you did something different. It just happens!

Bob

I enabled all the versions for the Secure Socket Layer and Transport Layer Security. I also changed a couple of other settings and now IE9 will render RCMPlans. Unfortunately, I can't say which of the setting changes kicked it into gear.

I got a page cannot be displayed error when clicking the link, I then noticed that the link includes a comma at the end which should not be there

UK Engineman, Try using another browser. That's seemed to cure the problem so far. Mozilla Foxfire is one that might work for you if you don't already have a second browser.

Andrew, how did you enable those SSL's etc. Was that in the Security section of your browser???

Thanks,

Bob

Interesting. IE9 displays the page for me, but none of the images and Chrome displays everything correctly. Compatibility view in IE9 does not change anything.

Hi Bob -

I'm running Win7 with IE9.

Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab. Near the bottom of the Settings window, you have the option of checking the SSL and TLS versions you want to implement. My office machine had the same problem as my home machine yesterday, i.e., failure to display the RCM page correctly. My system displayed correctly if TLS 1.1 or later was turned on or if SSL 3.0 was checked. I simply checked SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.2 as my final setting.

Its sounds like you got a 50/50 chance of seeing your plans arrived ,unfortunately I ordered quite a few in one go last year and I am not in the lucky 50%,
Being from Australia I got no chance of a refund or able to make a complaint, good luck to any one buying plans from them ,its a shame because they have such a good product.

Saw this January 8, 2013 post on another site:

All,

I just called RCM Plans tonight to check on an order I placed on 11/6 and the nice lady on the phone asked for my order number and last name. In talking with her she mentioned that they had a major computer crash and their computers were infected with a virus and they not only lost all their e-mails but all orders and order numbers.

She said she will be shipping out my order in the morning.

If you have placed an order in the last couple of months please call them at 877-247-2290 and give them your order number!

Good luck!

All I can get from both the toll free and the 541 number is a busy signal from all the other people calling to ask about their order.....I am calling several times per day every day for weeks. I would love to hear the voice of that nice lady!
