Im not making a change until i hear from Dave or Ali.

Mine has worked well with stock everything, all i use is a little up elevator, easing it as the plane gains speed. I do have a Mix with triple rates to my rudder, and mix (nose wheel). Use the high rates to make the turns, and usually forget to low rate for take off since the elevator works so well to calm the nose erratics.
So whatever they say, as long as they agree.

You know another possibility is the incidence. IF the nose is planted with nose down incidence, it could really get sensitive. Maybe its time to change out my main gear, as they do wear, especially if you land with a little brake pre set. Maybe it will be more noticeable then.

I think some of it comes to take off techniques by every individual. We are using the stock gear with the plastic nose tire and Ontario main wheels. Holding up elevator results in perfectly straight takeoffs every time. We also use 15 degrees of takeoff flap as well. That is what works for us.

I cant see the point in ordering and paying and fitting a new nose wheel when you dont have to.If your nose is dancing around on take off then something is wrong.
First the standard Carf nose leg on the UF is of trailing link design with built in castor (self staightening action) so to take advantage of this built in funtion dont have the link wires from servo to nose leg steering arm drum tight, always have a small amount of play as this will allow to nose leg castor action to work better. If your models nose is dancing around on take off or after landing there is just TOOO much steering movement as you try to keep the model straight, thats all.Using a very large amount of expo will cure this completely without the loss of full lock for slow speed taxi manouvers.

I am surprised how many Jet pilots do not use expo at all not even on evelator and ailerons. In a Flying club of which I am a member there are two long term Jet pilots that dont use or like expo. I am not sure if they just dont undertand its function or dont like the feel.We all have modern computer radios so why dont we all take advantage of its functions, after all we have paid for them.

Phil.

In aswer to the comment on Expo.
I have learned to use a little expo with my jets, but really prefer not to for most of my flying. Im writing this even though it is a little off topic, but somewhat related to control of the nose wheel. I fly very relaxed, and small movements are quick and predictable. The servo wheel - to push rod, naturally has adverse expo, so have settled for a little expo just to make the response linear. But for really fast flying, such as 400mph, we rarely use expo, and prefer the center sensitivity, just because things happen fast, and the first twitch is all you need to keep on course. If you need wide stick excursions its hard to get instant response to get out of turbulent situations where instant reaction can save the moment. Since this is the way i have been flying, taking up Jets a few years ago, i have been reluctant to fly Jets with a lot of expo as well. When friends borrow my Plane and tx, there is that immediate question of why not use EXPO? Then when i try their Jet, i have to use up so much stick, it seems slow and fearsomely unpredictable. And i know why. So, not saying anyone is right or wrong, I just have that strong preference.
John
