It is that time again. This year, the contest has been moved to the fall. The weather should be much cooler and manageable than in past years. We will once again start flying early so that we can all go to dinner on Solomon's Island. Field is in great shape and I'm hoping we can get quite a few D1 guys this year as it is the final contest of the year in the district. This year it is on Labor Day weekend, so Monday is a holiday for most. Hopefully we can attract some people from further distances and surrounding districts.

For hotels, search California, Hollywood, and Lexington Park, MD. There is a brand new Comfort Inn located in Lexington Park about 20 minutes from the field. The closest hotel is the Sleep Inn, located in Hollywood, MD

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

So far the weather is looking good. Hope to see a lot of the D1 guys, and also possibly some D4 guys make the trip over.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend,

Arch

Yeah,..I hope to attend the Fredricksburg contest? I was going to the WSRC Mocksville contest , have to TDY for 30 days starting that weekendend, so thats out.

My flight packs are going bad fast and need to order 4 sets from Chris (not sure what I want yet 4500-5000-5300s'), just ordered 4-RX packs from Chris and a few APC 20.5x14's to test. I'm also going to try the new Mejelick (sp) 21x13WE-L on both birds, see how that does.

Anyway,..ya'll have a great time!

I wont make Fredericksburg as I'll be in Muncie, for the NATS planning meeting. They moved it up a weekend this year, so I have to miss F'burg.

Some more pictures. Great to see Joe Peck, AJ Leroy, Buff Miller, Marvin, George and their wives, and all the D1 and D2 gang. Joe Peck had the burden of being asked to fly in all classes to carry the D1 torch, but politely declined. I heard a rumor that an invasion more North of the Mason-Dixon was pending at a future unsuspecting D1 contest. Something about D2 FAI flyers infiltrating all the AMA classes as a frontal assult in Northern territory since a D1 vs D2 meeting in more neutral, but southern-sympathizing Maryland would not do....

Dale Arnold was running one of the new Pletty Evo's. I got to fly it and he had the brake set up well on the speed control, with a 21x14.5 version 1 carbon fiber prop providing very smooth and constant speed on the Pegaus that he flew in the contest.

Tara and Archie did a great job running the contest and scores.

I heard of this plan to keep Joseph up all night playing video games with Caleb and it seemed to work when Joseph kept telling me the plane and engine would not run on his second F13 flight yet somehow it mysteriously ran and flew fine when I flew.... maybe he was just a little tuckered out...

I also heard Charles Simmons had a new battery charger. This is a top secret battery charger but has one very, very serious side effect. If you leave the charger on too long instead of puffing the batteries, it puffs the airplane by as much as 300 percent. That equates to expaning 2 meter to 3 meter size plane. No problem we just have to extend the box from 60 degees to 180 degrees and everything works out fine.... except when you try to go home and have to use your engineering skills to wedge everything back into the station wagon....

GREAT CONTEST GUYS WE HAD A BLAST!!!!
