Status: online 		So my buddy as work is always bragging about his Mercedes. Which I'm not sure why because he is the dummy who let the timing chain go and spent $6k to get it fixed lol. But anyway, he thinks it is crazy fast with a 1.8 supercharged 4 banger, standard tranny. Now to be honest, and some of you might laugh, but my Hyundai pulls pretty good I think, even on the highway at 70mph with the 1.6 DOHC 16 valve, auto tranny, only weighing in at 2400lbs. I'm not sure of the weight of the Benz, but it's a 4 door sedan, badged for luxury supposedly since it's a Mercedes. Now in a race (either 0-60, or on the highway from prob 65), what would the outcome be?

You don't think the size and weight of the Benz would make a big difference? I mean it's only .2 liters larger. And I doubt the stock supercharger is pushing crazy boost, 5lbs maybe?

Status: offline 		Well, the 0-60 is claimed at 7.5 seconds for the C230k and I can't see any Hyundai Accent of the same vintage that will do it under 10. Barely under 11 seconds. He will win easily.

Status: offline 		Seriously, who cares?  They are not even close to the same car.  Size does matter - compare the Mercedes with the Sonata or Elantra but not the Accent.  You will get double the horsepower.  And closer to the luxury.
Compare that Accent to a BMW 318.

Status: offline 		1.8 liter huh?  Must be one of those American built wannabes that don't know that the 230 stands for 2.3 Liters.  That's been a Benz standard for years.  But it's still go 189 HP so that beats you little 115 all over the place - not just 5 HP better.

I thought the same thing, that 230 meant 2.3 liter. But anyway, yea I figured he would beat me. Just wanted to know for sure before we meet up and I look like a fool lol. I did race my buddies ram 1500 hemi with a K&N CAI and duals on the highway. we were side by side the whole time till we stopped at about 110.

I'm not considering racing the Hyundai. Believe me, I am a hater to all the rice burners thinking life is Fast and the Furious and that fart cans are good for adding 10+ horsepower. I was just curious as to how it would go up against the Benz. We are both in out 20's. You know, the age of curiosity. The Accent is by no means a race car, but a mere gas saver for me and my commute to my job everyday. I would most likely hesitate to even race a Civic, as I have never really went up against someone for real, like a set date and time. Just foolin' around.

There is a guy near where I live (I don't know him) but he has a riced out Hyundai Accent; body kit, park bench on the truck, hood scoop, euro lights, dual exhaust, crazy paint (some crazy orange). The funny part about it is it's an automatic 1.5L on steelies! I always point and laugh and he just revvs it. has quite a knock.

Status: offline 		wow.....almost any German car will walk that Hyundai. a 2013 VW turbo beetle will walk that Hyundai. all German cars have that torque to power ratio especially the TDI's. Had a friend that had a 03 VW Golf TDI that was pushing 250 crank HP with like 480 ft lb torque and was eating 5.0 mustangs like it was nothing. I currently own a 02 Audi S4 and an 03 A4 they are pretty fast.....
