I have just read some of this thread, & I know I'm not in the USA, but I wonder if you have heard of BoomaRC here in Australia.

They have packs for ignition, at 1200Ma, they are actually 1400Ma cells, that can be used for RX, I have one for the ignition on my Saito FG21, they are self balancing, there is a charge lead,
& a power lead, both JR type plugs.
They also have larger packs, & all sorts of switches & equipment.
Also a forum for info. Rick is the guy that runs it all, & he is very helpful.
I only posted because of the balancing question.

Status: offline 		just got a 2300, A123 pack from Radical RC for a 50cc size build this fall.  After reading most of these post putting this battery pack in a 60 glow size plane with 5 futaba 3004 servos may be a little over kill

The 1100mAh size is perfect for most any sport glow plane. I have a Sig 4 Star 60 (5 servos) and a H9 Showtime 50 (6 servos) both using 1100mAh A123's. In both cases the models use 65-75mA per flight. I use a Cellpro Multi4, so I get a very accurate indication of just how many mA I use per flight, and it's always less than you'd think. My 30cc Yak uses a pair with redundant switches to power 5 HS-5625's and an analog servo on throttle, with an IBEC also powered by the two 1100mAh packs.
With A123's I just make sure the battery is full before the first flight, and if I wind up flying that plane more than normal, I just put it on charge to top it off real quick

G'day Mate,
You really don't need 4 batteries, 2 pairs is 4, & you don't need the diodes, just 2 batteries, 2 switches, & 2 rx connectors.
Both batteries need to be the same voltage, they won't effect each other at all, they will just power the RX.

Status: offline 		To be clear: one "battery" is a pair of a123 1100 mAh. There are two batteries or four a123 cells.

Status: offline 		It's a question of wording... most of the time, when you use a123 you have to assemble cells into packs by your self... so it's logic to say "a pair"... instead of "a pack"...

LiFe packs are not only in 2S, they can also be in series parrallel, to add capacity.

They have great gear, & ship world wide. Check em out.
I still don't think you need diodes, but BoomaRC also sell very good battshare devices.
