Status: offline 		I recently bought a used slightly trashed Wraith RTR version locally for $200. I wanted one for my son but didn't want to spend $400 new for something he will probably beat up or not run alot. When I got it the servo mounts and front bumper were broken along with the hood missing and body panels pretty trashed but all of the other stock electronics worked great. So after a few nights of labor here is the finished project. I bought a new metal gear/high torque servo for $40 and new front bumper for $8. Covered all the panels with some digi-camo duct tape I had and fabricated a hood out of some lexan sheets I had. Also modified the rear roll cage into a "slant-back" style and salvaged the old front bumper and made into a rear guard. So for about $250 into it so far...it should be a great all-around truck for an 8 1/2 yr old. Obviously I didn't want him wrecking my Wraith kit I built which I am over $500 into. I will do that myself. lol

Status: offline 		looks pretty damn nice for only $50 of parts put in with what you said was wrong.
actually looking at the before and after that thing was in very rough shape looks way better after
actually the mods you did make it look pretty damn neat

My son seems to like it, plan to take them out this weekend, also have a camping trip next week. His might be faster than mine as well with the stock 20T motor. I went with a sensored brushless 17.5 for a little more torque crawling in mine. We will find out on the trail.

I might be a moron, but if I'm not mistaken lower turns are faster and higher turns have more torque.

Really depends. Turn ratings for brushless motors don't seem to be as accurate of a measurement as it is with brushed motors.

Status: offline 		Nah, we always had the impression that the 'turns' were linear for brushed motors, but they had the exact same differences (I too didn't even realise this til recently). You could go an buy 5 different brand '5T' motors and get different kv for each of them. Part of it has to do with the number of windings, but there are other factors too. KV is by far the preferential unit to use these days.

Also, the really good 17.5s (and other 'spec' motors) are designed to be run on insane timing, rendering all units (turns, kv, etc) irrelevant.

Status: offline 		After running our two Wraiths at the park. Mine with the brushless 17.5 sensored Ballistic motor was slightly faster than my son's with stock electronics. But I am running lipos and his was on a 6 cell nimh so there are variables. I plan to get him some 2s lipos soon.

Status: offline 		ee went for a short hike and took the Wraiths to our favorite park here in Wilsonville the other day. Here are some pics! My son has some new 2S lipos to run in his stock Wraith. He enjoyed the longer run time and better power. Great day! No problems or breakdowns.
