Status: offline 		I just got my first electric plane. It came with an E-flite 5S 30C 18.5V LiPo. I want to buy another battery pack, but am uncertain about which brands are rated the best. I'd like to hear from some RC fliers with electric flight experience.

Status: offline 		I've not heard anything good about e-flite packs , but don't have any personal experience with them. You'll be an expert in comparisons before too long if you buy some more packs. Generally I've found that HobbyKing (turnigy) and Hobbypartz (skylipo) are among the best DEALS for lipo packs. There's plenty of other vendors and brands that are good too. The latest rage seems to be haiyin packs with very good feedback.

Status: offline 		Thanks for the quick reply and the info. I haven't been able to find any reviews or much info on the E-flite LiPos either. I just want to start my electric experience with proven and popular equipment.

After seeing the plane and the stock battery it seems like this can be a very aggressive short flight which requires good stuff. I think the highest rated haiyin pack is what I'd use. Nothing says you have to stay at exactly 5000 mah either. This can vary a lot. Good luck , maybe next season I have a plane (and skills) that good,lol.

Status: offline 		Thanks Guver, I'm a newbie to electric flight and I'm still learning the vocabulary and vernacular of those who fill their fuel tanks with electrons rather than glow fuel or gasoline. It's another thing to love about this hobby/sport....always new challenges and new things to learn. I remember when a Ringmaster and a Fox 35 was state-of-the-art.

I have several E-Flite 3300 Lipos in the 3 and 4 cell packs.
They seem to be slightly heavy compared to equivalent Thunder Power and Venom packs.
I also have three E flight 4 cell packs that ballooned during hot weather, even though they were well within
C ratings and as far as I could tell, had adequate cooling.
All of the E-flite packs seemed to have well matched cells when new.

Status: offline 		To anyone who is knowledgable in e-flight li-pos. I purcchased an e-flite li-po, 3S 11.1v 3200mAh(35.5Wh) battery and have 2 questions; 1) is this batt too large or heavy for a Park Zone T-28 trojan foamy? do I need to change the esc? 2nd, when I tried to charge this battery on my triton EQ as a 3 cell it charge for about 14 min. and then started warning me of an "open cell". I stopped charging immediatly. what should I do???? all I did to this Battery was change the clips to Andersons.

Status: offline 		sorry, can't help with the weight of the pack in that plane. For the open cell error you can check all the readings on the pack itself to see if there really is an open. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with your Triton.

Status: offline 		Pretty much just volt checking adjacent pins in the balance connector. Each pair should read the same 3.5-4.2 volts. Gotta be careful not to short the two pins out together though.

oops, I forgot. The triton EQ can also read the individual cells too, right? I can;t remember how unless a charge is started. Maybe you have 14 minutes to get the readings.
