A few of us take the oppertunity to visit Museums. Now here is the chance to share your expiriance.

I like to start with the National Naval Aviation Museum located in Pensacola Florida. Here the website - www.navalaviationmuseum.org/

Let me tell you about the overall experience: WOW!! This is a great museum for the whole family and a huge playground for the aviation enthusiast and modeler. 


Right at the entrance there is a bronze statue called "The spirit of naval aviation" In the universal language of all aviators, a World War II pilot relives his flight with naval aviators from his hast and future.
Word War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm.
All of these wars are covered with airplanes, uniforms, artifacts and plenty detailed info.

Status: offline 		This museum is on a base, so don't forget a valid ID. There are no admissions or parking fee. The only money you spent is on food and the F-14 flight simulator. The simulator is a "must go" (before you eat) great simulation - they will ask you to remove everything out of your pockets...
 There are also two IMAX theaters with great shows.

Status: offline 		What makes the museum so different, you can touch ALL the airplanes. So, for the scale buff - what a deal. Getting close to these machines is a great deal for me. The visitors approaching the airplanes with great respect and the curator had the right idea.
Many retirees lurking around and eager to tell you about their section. Like: the museum loaned the Russians a Me 262 and never got it back, so they found a rare trainer...
Speaking of non US, Japanese German French and other nationalities are on display too.

Status: offline 		On the upper level is as much to see as on the ground level. Living quarters, field conditions, pictures and art. Also a big wall of  the metal of honor naval personal. Not to forget to mentions the blue angles. Models of the aircraft carriers will attrackt you attention, even if you are not a Navy guy

Final Word.
If you are in the vicinity of Pensacola you need to go - it's well worth, you will carry great memories and maybe some stuff out of the gift shop home.

Status: offline 		dont have time to do an actual review but anybody visting the UK should get to Duxford, it is well worth it and it is a trove of history, beiong one of the "Big Wing" bases from the Battle of Britain. Doublas Bader lo less was stationed there and you can almost here his ghost roaming . . .

and if you can time it for when "Flying Legends" is on . . .

It was also the set for many of the scenes of the famous 1960s movie "the Battle of Britain"

Warner Robins Air Force Base in Macon Ga (about 10 minutes off I75)

Well worth the trip, they have an SR-71 and its drone, and a U2. Well worth the trip. The museum is off base and free.

Status: offline 		The air and space museum at Dulles airport in Viginia is a definite must see.... They have an SR71, F-35, Concorde SST, F-86 Saber jet, Enola Gay, P-61 Blackwidow, mock up of a russian Venera spacecraft that landed on Venus, Space suit from Apollo 15, Mercury capsule, F4U Corsair, P-40, P-51B, and those are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head. There are literally hundreds of planes on exhibit there!!

I've spent a good amount of time at the USS Hornet museum here in California. I've done the live aboard program twice, once on there paranormal investigation night (many strange things happened)

I highly recommend making the trip, get there early and plan on making the day of it. There is a lot to see and many great tours of the ship. If you can swing doing the overnight program it is amazing to sleep and eat where the men in WWII did.

If you are ever in Everett, WA.. Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection is not to be missed! Those are the best restorations I have ever seen, and most of them fly. I've been 3 times, and I live in Utah!

Status: offline 		The Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB is a must see. Those of you who attend the D.O.G.S. Rally each year know how awesome it is. Too much to list here but check out the website:

Status: offline 		If you're in Honolulu check out the Pacific Aviation Museum. It's located on Ford Island next to the USS Missouri and near Arizona Memorial. Museum Hangar 79 still has bullet holes compliments of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
