Anthony, if they had an STA in either a 1/4 or 1/3 scale I'd be the first to buy the kit.  I'm excited to fly this with a 20!

Status: offline 		I have been following this thread about the Sig STA and the comments about a larger version. I'm not going the hijack this tread, as I will be starting my own, but I am currently working on plans and a kit for a 37 1/2% scale STA. I am working directly from full scale plans that are used to build reproduction STA's.

Everything is being drawn with 3d software and I will be laser cutting all of the parts. My version will be built as my scale competition plane for Top Gun and ScaleMasters events.

I should have the plans finished and the first kit cut by the first of the year.

I plan on finishing mine as the YPT-16A at the Air Force Museum.

Status: offline 		My last sander which I bought from Grizzly lasted a little over a year .  Even though it still functions, from the get go I wasn't happy with how it worked.  Its table is made from aluminum and is wobbly, so if you put any type of pressure on it your accuracy goes out the window.  It never exhaused the dust out of the supplied port even though it was hooked up to a very good shop vacuum, it made a mess.  The miter gage was , well you get the idea... With the proper touch it's surprising how much control and accuracy one has with this new Jet sander.  Not at all of what you think with a sander this size, I'm done buying cheap because in the long run it's been  more expensive for me.

Status: offline 		I'm really enjoying your build VJ especially now that you have started on the wing build. This was the most challenging part of the build for me.
I will be interested to see the result of the Robart hinge installation. I made up hinges per the plan and although rather fiddley they turned out to be very strong.

Status: offline 		The hinges that came with my Ryan are still good after 24 years. They were harder to install over Robarts. The plastic is a little brittle but still good. You will find installing the flying wires and landing wires a challenge! They are not required for flying but look great.

I think Jet said it should be 2/1000 or better, most of the time they come in between 12/1000 to 25/1000

Status: offline 		Glad your still checking the thread cavoodle, I will make sure to document the hinges for you with photos.
Swift bill, what isn't a challenge on this build!  I must say that the wings have taxed me ( the ailerons specifically ) a bit but I'm confident  they will come out well...

I have been working on aileron/flaps mounts this evening.  I made the mounts but they are not glued in place which is why they may not seem perfectly lined up yet.  I will be epoxying 4-40 blind nuts to the underside of these mounts to secure 3/32" ply hatchs which will hold the servos.

Status: offline 		Made the servo covers for the left wing.  As I said earlier the covers are made from 3/32" birch ply and are bolted to the wing mounts using 4-40 stainless bolts.  I need to get shorter bolts as the 3/4" bolts are far too long.  Now I'll go back down and start to fabricate the servo mounts which will be made from aluminum and bolted to the covers...

On another note a bear came to  raid my bird feeders last night and bent down the wrought iron hangar and broke all the feeders.  If I remember I'll snap a shot of it in the A.M.  My birds are going to be hungry for awhile...

Thought I would post early this evening, maybe I'll get a second batch of photos in...  As you know I've been working on the aileron / flap servo mounting.  You can see how I did it by fabricating an aluminum bracket to get this accomplished.  The angle aluminum stock should be able to be found at your local home center or hardware store, they are sold in various lengths.  It was very easy to make.  This type of system makes a very sound mounting of servos that can be easily accessed for service by removing only four 4-40 screws on the hatch cover of the wing.  I would like to take credit for this ingenuous mounting system but I can't, the credit goes to a very talented builder, SunDevilPilot (SDP). I saw him use it on his last build. 

The last photo is of what's left of my bird feeding station, that was pummeled by a hungry black bear. (2nd time)!

I am waiting for the repair parts for my Waco. They should be lasering my parts within a week or so. I will start in on it as soon as the parts arrive. Flying seaon is almost to an end and I will be digging in hard on the repair.
