Thinking of ways to make the race more intresting, maybe in the A main you have to make all right hand turns. And no Skully you can't fly it inverted, becaus then you would be turning left!!!

Putting the polls on a trolly and keep them moving in and out say from 300 feet to 500 feet.

Putting all the planes in a pool and you have to draw a number to see what plane you are flying.

Flying it on the 3 poll short course. Greg would probably like this, but most of us would be lost.

Any more sugestions? Lets hear them, maybe we will pick the best one and try it.

[/quote]

All kidding aside, I would be up for a "figure 8" style race where the planes would intersect at the center.

I was practicing this yesterday and the right hand turns take a little bit of practice.

Bring your worst plane and lets make it happen.

How about we see if Skully can fly a heat race WITHOUT running into someone.

Have the pilot take off, make 3 to 5 laps and then let him hand his tx to his spotter to land the plane . Wheels touching ground in quickest time wins.

Gary Fisher will remember when we raced 5 Club 40 planes at Freddie's Racing Ranch a few years ago. Everyone had a blast! It teaches you to hold your line and fly a consistent course...

Just when Fish and Skully think its safe to go back in the water!.........
here is some of the damage that I suffered from the Harvest, Al race a few weeks ago due to a brand new aileron servo quitting on me in flight. It went down pretty hard in a soybean field at full warp speed. The fuse was in about 8 pieces and the wing lost some of the leading edge and one of the front bays all the way back to the spar and the wing hold down bolts pulled all the way thru the rear leading edge. Yeah, it was sorta ugly, kinda like Skully's big ol' punkin head , but I let it set in a pile for a couple weeks then started accesing the damage about a week and a half ago. I had most of the pieces of the fuse and what I didnt have, I made. About all I lack to do is to clean it all up and re-cover the wing now then re-mount the engine,etc.... The fuse has been recovered from the tail section forward due to the crash, err I mean unscheduled landing.
Hopefully she will fly as good as before as things look lined back up fairly well but we'll see.

Unfortunately, a combination of too much stress at work and one too many drinks resulted in my sending out an email that I regret sending. Those who know me, know that I enjoy good natured "trash talk" but that insults like the one that I mailed out are not in my character. I offer my apology to all those that I offended.

Jim, she's all finished up as of last night. Recovered the entire wing in a new color scheme. Its now got a 'Beat Skully' Orange base color with a white racing stripe on one wing. This one was the same as yours, I had yellow and black and white checkered but removed that after the crash. Got the engine mounted and servos hooked back up and tested everything. Even swapped it from 72 mhtz to 2.4, ( this is my first time being on 2.4) . Its sort of a different feeling wanting to pull the antenna out but not needing to now, LOL
All I lack to do now is to go out and fly it and teach it ( and me ) how to do rise off ground Texas starts, maybe this weekend. Go Team Bama!!!

No I can't go into the water, that would create an oil slick, and piss off the EPA. Just walked in from a long HOT week, but all is well. I see it's business as usual here on RCU.

Is  it legal to use carbon fiber props?  I can't get the 10.5 X 4.5 to hold up over 23000 RPM.
