bondspyguy -> durafly se5a power drain (8/29/2012 4:40 AM)

Hope some one can help.I am new to electric and purchased the durafly se5a been flying for a few weeks then the batteries turnigy 1800mah went from 12 min flight times to 7 then 4 now only last for a minute and no power I even tried a brand new battery nano tech and I got the same.I. tried changing radio and receiver with no joy.can the speed controller or motor be causing this battery drain.and does the controller need to be reprogrammed or something.I am a loss and hope someone can help please.....my power loss is the motor only I still get all servos work ok.

Try reprogramming the controller. When you do, remember to set the throttle trim down. Also, if you have another ESC give it a try (swap them). It could be the motor. If it gets hot or in a crash it can be damaged. If you get the same results with a different (same specs) ESC I'd say your motor is bad.

Sorry but how do you reprogram the esc

What is the voltage reading at the battery connectors after charging? Sounds like a charger problem to me.

They all show 11.4v fully charged then drain to around 9 within a minute

Should show 12.6 V fully charged. What charger are you using?

Hi thanks for the help I am using the turnigy accucel 6 and I balance charge them each time

Gohmer -> RE: durafly se5a power drain (8/29/2012 11:26 PM)

I'm not familiar with that one. Sounds like it's set in a storage mode. You need to get it set somehow so it charges to 12.6v. That's your flight time problem.
