you and VincentJ are on the 1/4 scale CW piper cub build thread right? the sig kit. builders of the tiger 60 kit need help and guidance from builders like you. if only they knew how much more time some kits take compared to others.

my sig cub is still on the bench, with opening door and window mod, and fuse is almost done. I need to get back into it because i have a Saito 180 to hang on it.

i agree about Goldberg kits, i have many of them and I like them all.

Status: offline 		Yes jkr1100, I just finished my Sig 1/4 scale clipped wing cub which took me 7 months to complete.  The Tiger build is a cake walk compared to that kit.  Goldberg models are very well thought out relatively easy to build and fly great!  I have also built the Super Chipmunk as well.  I am currently building  an oldie but goodie Sig Ryan STA (check out the thread).

Status: online 		Yes You are rite the Tigers tend to be tail heavy..They have long tails, thats part of why they handle so well... I added I think it was about 8 oz to mine, might have been more, I cant rember..I just rember it was a lot .. I never though about going to a bigger engine..I am using an OS MAX 75 AX and I am happy with it...It has enough power , it is quiet , it is quite easy on fuel and easy to tune and run...I am tempted to try the DLE 20 . What do you think of that? I could build my next one with the DLE 20 in mind..I would maby put some fiberglass reinforsement on the firwall , might need a taller landing gear..My DLE 20 has a lot of power...It handled my 120 size seagull spacewalker easily....Till I dorked it...

Status: online 		I am more than happy to help anybody with there Tiger builds..I have built enough of them to be fairly farmiliar with them and the mods that are worth doing if a person is into it...Like going to a tail dragger and or increaseing the size of the tail feathers , building on a cowl, etc.etc. The Tigers dont need much help, they fly pretty good building folowing the plan.... I am presently building a BUSA 1/4 CUB and I am also building a huge Cessna scratch build..It is going to have a 10 ft wing span..It is on floats or wheels. Powered by a G62 , Its getting close to being done..I gotta fiberglass the fuse prior to paint then paint the works...It has flaps although I dont expect it will really need them..The wing is pretty thick...Its a heavy lifter... This is my first attempt at something this big and its turning out pretty good if I do say so myself...

I think the DLE 20 would be a slam dunk. the only think i worry about is going gas would mean lots of vibration. I put an additional 1/4 inch plywood firewall for 1/2 inch total for the 150 4 stroke.

I would think that would be a minimum for a DLE 20. this could be a great combo. think of the long flight times with that engine.

Status: offline 		How about the Tiger 400? I've been eyeing one for a while, and even though it's an ARF, it ahould be okay with an FP10 or a PAW 1.5 insead of electric. Anybody have any thoughts on this one?

you may have to double up the firewall triangle stock to fuse sides too.

aircraft built for electric only do not have enough strength to absorb the vibration from an IC engine.

you can subscribe to a thread and it will send you an email letting you know if someone posts to it. not good for club saito. but for less active thread it lets you know when to go look. it also provides a gauge of how popluar the thread is based on how many subscribers it has.

I was thinking the same thing. Turns out the plane comes with a 400 motor and prop, so I might have to try electric flying.

talking about adding weight for balance, the Tiger I got from the estate sale has a 15/16ths Mac Tools Impact Socket as its weight..  Luckily I was test running the engine to make sure it would run correctly,  before taking it to the field, and the socket came loose from it's Epoxy..  although had the socket come loose during flight, the previous owner had the foresight to use a zip tie to at least keep it attached to the airframe, it was dangling, but it was still there...  Going to add some proper weight tonight or tomorrow tho!

Status: online 		If you can find some lead shot you can mix it with epoxy and pour it in around the firewall. It adds strength and weight at the same time but its hard to remove if you change motors..I usually use stick on tire weights..I put a screw in for added security...Never used a socket though...I have heard of guys using dead batteries like d cells and such...Well at least you got your self a free socket...
