Yes but what a great game every year

well my saito 125 broke the firewall on the Tiger 2.

I am planning to glue it up and try it again. I had it dialed in yesterday and the verticle lines were breathtaking and nearly silent.

it flew so great that I just have to try to hold it together and get more flights out of it. Its an air hot rod.

I'm getting more comfortable with my Tiger 60. I'm ready to start pushing her around a little.
I'm currently using a 12x8 APC on a Thunder Tiger Pro 61. Fuel is Wildcat 15%.

I'm able to climb endless but I think I'd like more top speed. Maybe its just the design of the plane and the thick wings that slow it down and I should just keep the 12x8.

What say you all?

Breaking a firewall.... that is putting it through its paces! Were you doing snap maneuvers? Those cause more stresses than thrust on and off. This makes me wonder if anyone has ever built and flown a Tiger gasser.......

That's what I was thinking overall. If I want super speed I may need to pony up and get a mustang. The Tiger flies fantastic. Very stable. Easy to get comfortable with, relax, and enjoy the flight.

Is a 12x8APC what I should be using?

Try a 12x 6. You might like it

Great. I have one and I'll put it on. I was thinking the x8 was just too much and even though I can climb forever I think it's slowing me down.

"too much load" is exactly what it is. It feels heavy and RPM's are lower than they probably* should be.
Looks like i have my work cut out for me. And I need to get more props.

*naaa, they are too low now that I think about it.

I HAVE A TIGER 60 THAT IS A ARF I HAVE A OS 95 AX IN IT WITH A 14/7 APC PROP. I ALSO CHANGED THE FROM NOSE GEAR TO A FULTS DOUBLE ARM

THE PLANE IS AN AWESOME FLYER AND THE VERTICAL IS OUT OF SIGHT.

Tried the 11x7 Master Airscrew GF/3 and it flew nice. RPM's were higher and the speed was plenty.
Today I'm going to try an APC 12x6.

This is the pic showing my firewall broken in the tiger 2. notice the gap where the hatch used to be nice and tight.
someone told me they all loosen up when they get older.

Most ARF's have weak glue joints hot melt in place of epoxie.
I heard of a firewall, on an ARF, fall right out the 1st time the motor was started.

Did you notice change/loss of throttle?

I had loose firewall eengine would rev up/down depending on how it was moving.

I couldnt lower the idle after landing. it was taxiing so fast i couldn't catch it. I had to put it in tall grass.
Gorilla glue is in its destiny. it will not move again.

Gorilla glue works great for me also. The more moist the two pieces are the more that glue will swell and foam up. I use that to my advantage and wet pieces as needed but some people don't like Gorilla Glue just because of the seepage.

I almost lost my Tiger today to a dead stick in very windy conditions. I didn't bleed off speed I just brought it in real hot and she landed nicely for me and I just let her run down field. My thunder tiger pro 61 just runs awful. Its never consistent and I'm ready to take it apart or replace it with another engine I have. I enjoy flying my Tiger but I spend too much time and fuel just tinkering with it on the bench. Not fun.

might be loose head or backplate bolts also check to see if carb is loose or the screws are leaking
sometime the chineeze kwality kontrul iz not the bust

and the price of an OS.75AX is twice that of a tower .75
no complaints on the tower .75 that I own.

The carb came loose but that wasn't the problem today.
Fuel is everywhere - it spits out the carb. I've tried so many things with it.

I have a black head OS Max-H .60 from 1974 that was given to me by my uncle. I put it on an airboat and its been in a box for 25 years. It needs a throttle lever and a muffler. Once I secure those parts I'm taking the Thunder Tiger off, no question. The OS should pack much more power and I'd rather use that engine for personal reasons anyway.

I recommend a Saito 4 stroke. -most consistent running engines i have seen in the sport. a Saito 125 would bring you much joy.

Pilots have done worse!

I had good luck with Saitos AND OS four cycles, and a 4 banger is always my number one choice for a plane 120 size and under.

Gas after that!

I think everyone has to make a choice on how much investment they are willing to fly with. An expensive Saito running well would be okay with me as they are very fine engines. I have a friend who flies jets and I could never be comfortable with three thousand dollars of engine up there. He has a lost a few and I could never live with that personally, but he is in a position where he can. A big Tiger with a geared turbine would be pretty sweet though, so someone should do it!
