I am looking for C/G information for a Goldberg Tiger 120. I am restoring one for a fellow club member and he is the second or third owner and has no paperwork for the plane. I know one of you Tiger fans will have this C/G spec. I'am sure that this was an ARF version if that matters. The airframe was badly fuel soaked in the engine compartment and lower fuselage area. The main gear had been torn out of the wings and required new mounts and reinforcement in that area. Just finishing up the wings now, have the fuselage done and ready for covering and will want to balance it after reassembly prior to it's test flight. Nice plane, wish they still made the 120 size. Think I might settle a 60 size kit for myself. Thanks in advance for the C/G help.

LOW HIGH
AILERONS 3/8" 1/2"
ELEVATOR 3/8” 1/2"
RUDDER 1-1/2"

To determine the Center of Gravity, measure back on the fuselage 3-7/8" from the leading edge of
the wing. The C.G. range for this aircraft is 3-3/4 to 4-3/4".

this is a straight with with no taper in the plan view. so 33% of the MAC would be exatly 1/3 of the way from LE towards the TE. If you can't find the manual.

Hey all! I am starting to build the Tiger 2 and was wondering how a 52 magnum 4 stroke would pull it around. I origonally bought a 55ax to instal but have since put it in a T/H Kaos. I plan to build it as a tail dragger and modify it to have dual ailaron servos. I am also considering cowling it in after viewing some of the nice planes on this web site. Any feedback would be great. Thank you!

I think that engine will fly it around well. you will not have giant vertical up lines. I like to go overboard on everything. I had a Saito 125 on my Tiger 2 and it was really great. I bet a 91 would make you really happy. when o bought the plane used it had an OS 40 2 stroke and a ton of nose weight to make it balance. when i put the saito 125 on it i had to add 1/2 oz to the tail at the elevator. this plane tends to be tail heavy because of the long tail.

I have an OS.52 4-stroke in my girlfriends Tiger II ( kit built) no lack of power for it. just wont go vertical forever.
It balance perfect...loops rolls split-s cuban-8 andgreat fuel economy.
standard trike gear, and 6 std servos-dual aileron + 1 for the flaps whichwere added by the builder about 30% of the original ailerons

If the 52 is what you have no need to spend a lot of money on over kill motor.

Here's what a Tiger 2 can do with a 35AX. Your 52 would pull it along much better than this. I only use full throttle on take-off and on up lines.

Had some fairly gusty winds today and had a handful on take off when a gust caught the ship right at rotation. After a few wild seconds, up away from too much danger! Was a lot of fun to hit the top of a loop with no or almost no ground speed. After two flights, thought I should park it and ease the nerves! The Tiger is a great windy day flier, but it was a bit too much today.

Yes the tail is heavy and it also lacks some authority. You can solve part of the problems by adding width to rudder and elevators, you don't have to add the balance tabs like I did and then drill the heck out of it to lighten it up and you probably won't even add any weight.

Thanks guys, I am finding much of the fun in building is learning new skills. I had an idea of what I wanted on the tail but then, how to do it?

I used Papilio clear inkjet waterslide paper to print the decal (you can get a sample page shipped for about $3.50 ( http://www.texascraft.com/hps/catalog/Inkjet_Waterslide_Decal_Paper-orderby_0-p-1-c-250.html )

After printing I coated it with a clear-coat to waterproof the ink, cut it out, dropped it in some water and slid it onto the tail. Unfortunately the edges started to curl up so I left a flat ruler on the decal for an hour so that the edges would stick. Now I just need to get some fuel-proof clear to protect it. 

For the graphics I used Photoshop Elements 8. I typed the top text using the Text tool, then right-clicked and selected "Warp Text" then "Arc Upper" with max bend and lots of vertical distortion. Then Arc lower for the bottom text. Unfortunately, it didn't end up as a passable circle so I selected all and pasted to a new blank file, this allowed me to adjust the aspect ratio and get it looking pretty good.
 
Here is a blank if anyone wants to use it.

My first powered plane was a Sky Tiger, back in the early 80's. My dad, brother, and I all shared that plane. I bet it had a thousand hours between my 8 and 16th birthday. Only 2 air frame rebuilds, and I think the motor guts were replaced a couple times too. Since we had to take turns we would fly around and then get real high when we thought the fuel was running low. That way we had a nice long glide once the motor quit.
I had a couple other planes, but none I like so much as the tiger, so a few years after our beloved Sky Tiger passed, I bought my first big plane. A Tiger 60. That was just mine, and I did fly the hell out of it, but being a young teen and trying to impress the peanut gallery, I dumb thumbed it after a botch 4 point roll just above the bean field.
I've always threatened to get another one. I'm just getting back into flying after a 8ish year lay off. My youngest daughter is helping me build my new Ultimate Bipe. If her interest continues I guess I'll have to get another Tiger as her first trainer!

That sounds like the call of destiny. IF your daughter is interested? What about what you want? I'll bet your daughter just wants to hang out with dad. A new Tiger 60 sure would be nice.

What do you guys thing about the evolution 10cc gas motor for my Tiger 2. I have never ran a gas motor and I'm not sure if I would have enough room for extra battery and whatever els I would need.

It would probably be great. I don't have any experience with this engine. If it runs well I bet the Tiger 2 would fly very well with it.

I have a lead on a Tiger 120. I am trying to get the airframe, I think I have an engine that will go on it and fly it well.
