I received my Tamjets Pipe for my Rabbit 100 which goes in my Tamjets 1/8th F-16. The problem is the pipe is too long (kind of surprised when I got it) as it sticks out past the exhaust cone. What is the safest way to cut the pipe down or is it even recommended? I was considering seeing if Tam could take care of it but thought I would ask here first.

Not a big deal. Had to do this to the Tams Pipe for my Flash. (my measurement error).

If your pipe is like mine, just remove the little bolts holding the bell mouth on and remove the bell mouth. Mark the pipe for the desired cut off and use a dremel with good cutting wheel to make the cut. Re-drill the holes to attach the bell mouth and bolt that back on and you will be good to go. Mine has a couple hundred flights on it with no problems at all.

Just be careful in that if your pipe is tapered that after you cut it up front the bell mouth will fit the smaller Dia.

I will also have to deal with new mounting tabs as I just realized these are right in the way. Dangit.

I also received a pipe from Tam that, in my opinion, was to long.  Tam advised against me trying to cut it and that I send it back for replacement.  I now have a 26 inch pipe instead of a 27 inch pipe which fits my install much better.

I have had to cut down the BVM dual wall pipes, it is fairly simply to do both the inner and outer pipes . I cut away the exhaust end.

The technique I used. Mark the pipe with pencil at the cut line, and then place masking tape around the pipe against the line, just up steam of the line. The tape makes the cut line very clear when you are working. Hold the pipe by taping it down to the bench. Use a Dremel with a 409 cut off wheel at high speed to do the cutting. Make a series of cuts using the tape as a guide and work slowly so that you just penetrate the stainless metal. Don’t get the wheel deep in the cut, less risk of catching the wheel that way. And wear ear protection because it is a loud process. .

The finished cut will need a bit of tidying with emery paper but should be very accurate.
