If you have been their customer since 1996, have you gotten on any of these public forums and praised their service and products? I'm assuming you have been generally happy with them to keep ordering. You had a screw up couple of times and you come on the net slamming a big company that has been in business for many years. Give them a chance to make it right prior to slamming them. Their customer service is excellent.

I agree

Back about 3 years ago when I was ordering a bunch of stuff from Tower Hobbies..............the items, products, merchandise ALWAYS came in a well protected box with those bubble wrap protectors and sometimes with those brown stuffing paper...............but the shipment ALWAYS came in well protected...........so I have NO bad experience with Tower Hobbies.....so far. Are some people experiencing bad packaging because Tower is swamped with orders and cannot keep up............I wonder why some packaging from Tower Hobbies is haphazard and some packaging(like my orders from Tower Hobbies) were well protected and well packaged. 'Nuff said.

Tower is a breeze.
HOBBY KING is the biggest rip off hobby shop on the planet.
They make you jump through hoops like a monkey when you have a problem.
It makes it not worth it when it's a critical $3.00 part missing from a $75.00 kit.
They cannot be relied on to act responsibly.
Horizon not much better in my opinion.
Buyer beware.

I'm getting in late on this discussion, but I feel I need to say something. I agree with a previous post that Tower used to package things with care and make sure everything was shipped that was ordered. Products were top quality, you knew what you were getting when you ordered. I just ordered a Gee Bee R-1 EP Tx-R with the Any Link adapter. When the order came in the Any Link was missing. Customer service was great and they are shipping one, the problem is the shipping department sucks. All they had to do is read the order. While putting he plane together I found that the outrunner motor was a piece of junk. It made a terrible noise just turning by hand and when running it sounded worse than an electric drill on it last leg. When I called customer service again I was told that the motor was not in stock and was not expected for several weeks. They could not ship another kit until they received mine back which would take at least two weeks to get another plane. Lousy products, Lousy shipping, Tower is going down hill. Probably my last order from Tower Hobbies. And as for the comment on Hobbyking, I have placed 28 orders with Hobbyking in the past 2 years and have only had one problem with them. They were quick to give me credit for problem. Never had a defective item shipped, when I ordered something they shipped it. Prices are ridiculously low and except for the lag time in shipping, couldn't ask for a better place to get my RC supplies.

What local hobby shop? Closest decent one is 54miles away.
Original "local" hobby shop. Owner died years ago, and was mainly into trains anyway.
Recent local hobby shop. - this year-  Closed and moved away within about six months of opening.
The owner made a poor choice as to location, and the shop was broken into multiple times in just a few months.
(Too close to low income and welfare housing, I guess.)  Robbers were all ethnic background juvies.)
(Video Surveillance cameras, but "hoodies" were worn. Robbers rode bikes.)
Local police took too long to respond to alarms, due to distance from station.

I routinely do business with HH and TH. Poor packing is occasionally a problem, although UPS and Fed X are bigger ones, due to
poor handling.  Both will drop off a damaged package and run like heck, so they don't have to make out the damaged package paperwork.
When something is shipped via a combination of USPS and UPS, neither wants to take responsibility.

Just wait, you will. Then they will want you to weigh and photograph everything three or four times before they finally tell you pound sand after the Pay Pal window has expired. And in the FWIW department, their prices are going up making places like Tower and Headsuprc a better deal in every way.

Hobby King is a cancer in the RC community.

I respect your opinion, even if I disagree with it. That's what makes this such a great place to live, we can all express our views without fear of opression. I will purchase my products where I feel comfortable and you purchase yours where you feel comfortable. Enough said. I also need to add that It has been over a month and I still do not have a replacement motor for the defective one that came on the model I ordered.  Really good customer service from Tower, I could have sent the original kit back and received a different , hopefully better replacement by now, but the customer service rep said it would be quicker to wait on the motor. Again I say "Really good customer service from Tower".

Well, other than his oringinal post the OP has been silent. Been a Tower customer since the late 60's, maybe 1970, and I've ordered many thousands of dollars from them from places all over the world, I can not remember one instance of getting something damaged in shipping. I have gotten some bad items and of those I can't remember sending anything back to them except a U-Can-Do quite sa few years ago. This plane had the landing gear block come loose on a gentle landing and the rear went through the wings. They said to cut the stabs off and stuff it back in the original box and send it back, they replaced it no questions. Every other issue they said keep it and sent a replacement sight unseen.

They are one of the best in customer service. Horizon, Castle and Hitec are others.

Pigpen's little black cloud is dirt, not bad luck. You're probably thinking of Joe Btfsplk in Li'l Abner and he brought the bad luck to everyone else, not himself...;-)

Shouldn't even need to be said, as it should be a considered a given to everyone, although there is a lot of oppression at another place if you mention a certain vendor.
"oppression" Tip: remember the line from the song, "Yer out with OPP..."

I do agree that there seems to be one shipping person at Tower who must be an employee's son, or something like that, who doesn't read the order. I ordered 2 things, and got one item completely different. The great thing is that a REAL phone call (not a bunch of HK email tag) got me the correct item, rush shipped, in 2 DAYS FLAT. Not bad, and they told me to keep the $20 item that they accidentally shipped.

I thought the Any Link was part of the boxed package with that product, and not something they had to fill in the order?
Either way, I don't intentionally try to use the post count stat as a way to discredit people, but you do have to realize that it looks questionable for a person to join, and immediately post a Tower problem and HK praise, all in one.

Bill the AnyLink is a separately sold item,, they just start including it with purchase of a few planes as a promotion. They hope once you have the anylink you'll buy more planes.
