Status: offline 		Hey RCuniverse forums, I signed up because I am in need of some help. I just got into the RC Nitro hobby and bought my first RC Nitro car (Shockwave 4wd Buggy).

Today, I spent 3 hrs trying to start the bad boy up. I followed the instructions, I primed the carb with fuel - took glowplug out and pull the starter upside down since maybe I flooded it. Checked glowplug, glows up bright orange so I know everything is in order. Air filter oil is set into place, added a little fuel manually into the carb as the instruction states. IDK what else to try!!

Could use some help here, really want to enjoy my new toy. Thanks for looking!

Status: offline 		The most common problem I see with new cars (especially the RedCat/Exceed brands) is flooding the engine. Sometimes a quick, small prime is all that is neededand anything else will prevent the engine from starting.

There are a slew of variables involved, but I always recommend to "de-flood" your engine when all else fails (whether you think it is flooded or not). Even a drop of nitro into your carb will easily flood it. I recommend de-flooding it like no tomorrow, and then trying to start without priming it. If that does not work, give a quick prime (one pull) and try. Also try a blow dryer on the engine (you'd be shocked at how much heat helps).

Below is a video I did on starting nitro engines. Go to 5:30 in Part 2 to see an engine similar to yours. However, the concept is the same for ALL nitro vehicles, and recommend you get some popcorn and watch all three parts in full ;-) Really not trying to tout my YouTube channel here, but there are so many variables, it's much easier to provide a link rather than type it all out

Status: offline 		Okay, my update - Got it working, used AliShanmao's unflooding engine method then it started it, just have to fix the carb opening. Any idea on how to fix a stuck carb when I give it throttle? Thanks for your help too!

is it sticking closed or open?
if its sticking open....look at the return spring. The throttle servo doesnt actually close the throttle...it just releases its pull and the spring closes the carb. If the spring is stretched out...missing or something like that it wont work.
