Gotta install a 57cc twin in front of the gear box and you'll be flying.

Really cool Randy. I love it.

Thanks for the compliments + Yes Daniel but the recoil would be under deck ........ maybe for part III

The Razor
  • (Rat Fink) is serial number 6
  • it is 3 colors of green on hull
    • Candy Apple Green over white base for bottom
    • Candy Apple Green over metallic for Deck
    • Key Lime Green stripe and 3M Carbon Fiber stipe
    • Cleared 2 x and RF decal added
  • Hatch is made from 1/8" Baltic Birch and is Key Lime Green and 3M CF - the alum vents on rear open and weight very little
Drives come from HOR and stainless propshafts with square inputs come from PMB in UK
Props shown are 2 from MHZ and are 'starters' Billet Alum

Wing is made from sheet CF (The real stuff) with hand made alum brackets
The struts are 4/40 threaded rod with 4/40 ball joint ends and carbon fiber rod with shrink sleeve ends over the rod .  4/40 stainless bolts
The strut is adjustable to various angles

The Rudder is a 6" Speemaster with a custom made 'control arm block' - so I can have arms both sides
No water pu on rudder comes from hull
CF Rod supports the 4/40 rods to the rudder

The inside stuff tubes are 11/32 and are epoxied and glassed in the ends are cut to clamp the 5/16
The clamps are made from McMaster Carr clamps - resized to 11/32

The gearbox is a MH$ 1572
Width: 112mm (4,4")
Height: 48mm (1,9")
Weight: 19,33 oz (548 g)
Diamter inlet shaft to motor: 7mm
Gear up: 18,5%

I added 'fill level' hose (just mocked up for now) but added vent to top
I will look at box over winter as I think its kind of heavy

I used the MHZ box because the width of the 2 out put shafts lines up with rear spacing for drives and I don't have length to play with bending tubes .  This way makes the tubes almost straight to drives

Anyways thats todays

Cheers

Randy

Had some nice cable (very well done - thanks Matho) come in today so did a little more

made some 't-bars' to go with clamps for front and made clamps for rear - should work

looks kinda like this

shows somewhat why I picked the MH$ box as keeps stuff tubes pretty straight ........ works for me on short boat

Cheers

Well few pics of some work
- I'm basically cheap so make my own stuff -

the servo box is from Tom at Expresscraft (HOR) - I changed to bolts thru bottom and MHZ 4mm Blue Knurled Nuts
- Battery is seperate as tubes take up bottom
- battery box seal is hi temp silicone - used to mount gear box too
- I ran gearbox for while but still not impressed - will need to look at over winter
- I made servo plate - mini t bars and battery box
- CC 1" pipe (I rewelded  changed angle) on TIG
- Walbro 1048 - Ron Buck ss shaft and GZ cover

more to come cheers

hope to start on next weekend

Randy

No
Just  under 13000 rpm (SenDec tach)  and small 62 mm 2 blades and stock from the box Zen 26

I discovered a split in fuel line after filled it two times  - boat was full of alot of gas (I have a cold and couldn't smell all the gas leaking seen puddle inside and wondered where water came from .. it was gas)  ....  explains why it wouldn't rev up

I ported a V2 J&G last couple night so I will try Saturday (already freezing and snow here so will be last time I'm sure)

Will try to pound it a little if I get to run .......... Might need snow shoes ........... LOl

Later Curt

Randy

Hey good Randy. That thing is one of my favorite builds EVER to keep up on. U have done a super jog as always. A JG should get it done with 2 props. Is the dual drive a gear up unit? By that I mean say a ratio of 1/1.25 or is it 1/1? Where did u find the drive unit? Like to try that myself on a larger boat.

Curt
18% overdriven - running through set 62 mm ..... I have 3 sets of small 2 blades and two sets of small 3 blades to try - idea is to try to spin two smaller props at higher rpm

so if I can get say 18 or 17, 500 from engine  then I get around 21, 000 at props ....... Well see how she goes I need to play with gear box and change to some ceramic sealed bearings (to cut leaks out) and need to machine some excess weight out of the box.

Later Bud
