Does not need to be an AM Tx, FM works just as well. Find the PPM signal to the RF deck, power, ground, and work out the installation. Some radios may require a pull up resistor for the PPM signal. Plenty of threads out there CFIRCAV8R, just search for them. Extreme Power System (XPS) has one of the most versitile 2.4 universal decks available. I had an old Pro-Line Comp 6 converted and have done a JR C7, a Kraft Series 79, and a number of ACE Micro Pro 8000 (known as the MP8K). The one in the attached pic has a QC sticker in it dated 8/91., I use XPS, Futaba, and Spectrum 2.4 decks/modules. Yep, all single sticks too.

What I was trying to indicate was PCM seems to be a problem for a simple conversion Which I did discover. Since I am not an electronics type, yes while there were only three traces cut from the RF output section and routed to the Hitec module the challange for a non electronics type such as myself is of course to isolate and find those three traces. I was fortunate indeed to have the help of a talented young technition to help.

The Orbit project was a big success of course but the first conversion I pursued was either my nine channel Futaba single stick or my 9 channel JR single stick (both PCM) only. The latest is a complete gutting of the JR and installation of Hitec Prism 7X components except for the gimbles.

Status: offline 		Sorry John, didn't mean for my post to sound as if it were an insult. It is easier than it seems, unless one is not good with a solder iron!     

You are right, a "PCM" presents more difficulty and the majority thought it couldn't be done. However, there is a thread here or on RC* that describes a Futaba PCM (single stick) conversion. A Spektrum DM9 or the XPS J-1 2.4 module will work in your JR Century 7 radio. All in all, one can send the radio in (like to Radio South) as the cost isn't that exorbitant I like that you converted the Orbit, I recall many Orbit radios in use back in the late sixties and early seventies. Greetings,

I'm not very good at finding the right info in this forum but you seem like the right person to contact. I have been looking for information on converting my DX6i "Flaps" and "Gear" switches to potentometers so as to control the amount of flap and gear as I need it. If this is something you are not experienced in, I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction to get the answer.

My DX6i is out of warranty and I am able to work on it's internals. Just reciently installed the HK back lighted screen kit sucessfully.

After starting out with a Futaba 4FG and 6FG, I had the X-388, then a 10SXII. I LOVED that 10SXII, but the motherboard took a dump after five years, JR had already dropped that radio in favor of the 10X, and I didn't want a 10X (for several reasons).

So I got a Futaba 9Z in 2003, and have been very happy since. I'm told that my Xmas present this year is a 2.4 gHz Futaba 12Z. I'm not so sure about this 2.4 business, but it looks like I'm going to "get into it" whether I want to or not...

Status: offline 		As far as ease of set up and spooling through menues I have never seen anything easier then the Hitec A9. Been flying one now for 2 years on a multitude of different airplanes and am very happy with it.
