I am looking for a Moki blend. I am new to this engine and not sure what ratios they like. Any tips this home mix?

I use a homebrew such as your wanting and it works great.

Its pure Methanol which I pick up at the local Go-Kart shop for $3.95 a gallon. I then buy a few quarts of Blenzol Green 50/50 Synthetic Castor blend.

I use an 18% oil blend into 1 gallon of fuel.

There are 144 ounces of fuel if I am not mistaken. If you do the math I BELIEVE it comes out to 23 ounces of oil per gallon. I shake it up really hard and stir too to make sure that its mixed well. I store it in my garage and try to keep it out of the sun just because.

128 oz. per gal but the 23 oz of oil is correct for 18%. I'm running Omega 5% with 3 oz. per gallon castor added. My Moki 2.10 loves it. After I use up the six gallons I have, I'll probably be going to home brew too, although I can get Omega FAI fuel for not all that much more than what it'll cost me to mix it myself.

what I have been reading says these engines love 20% castor and 80% Methanol...

I have to wonder if:

1. adding acetone would help idle
2. a squirt of amorall for goog luck would give good luck (not sure why folks do this one ;-)

so is it castor or a castor /syn blend? How about any acetone? I KNOW there are brewmasters out there who have some opionons ... pls do share. The Moki is really impressing me :-)

what do you guys think?

I have always run my Moki .61 LS on Fox 5% with 20% 50/50 lube and it thrives on it.

sweet engine.... I had this one and the 51 (or 56???) .... very nice motors way ahead of their time...

I have a Moki 1.80 that I have flogged the guts out of for 8 years running with 20% Coolpower and 10% nitro.

I know others will say that you dont need the nitro and could even be detrimental to the engines life span.

The engine is a power house and has never missed a beat turning a Bolly 18x10 with the Bolly EQ 3000 pipe.

The old squirt of Armor All trick is to keep the fuel from foaming; works wonders.

Moki's also run great on 12% oil contrary to popular belief; and you'll get another 300 or so RPM.

I know at least 3 people that run 0% nitro and 10% full synthetic oil on the 2.10 and they have 100's flights on them with no problems.

Being that the big Supertigre and OS motors advertise low oil contents; I am not sure why the Moki needs anywhere near 20% oil.

I've heard many stories about lower oil contents and no doubt it works for some. However, I have also seen fried engines where people have tried to use low oil contents and I really wonder why. Is there flying going to notice the small percentage gain in performance?

I know their hip pocket will notice if they fry the engine.

I dont claim that my idea is the best, but I know the engine is still going like a train after many long hours of work.

I think they gravitate toward a less mess and lower cost per gallon: these a 3-4 gallon per weekend IMAC guys.

Understand your point and certainly know the cost of fuel is a consideration, but I would rather be flying than replacing engines and the little extra fuel cost could be viewed as something like an insurance policy.

When in doubt, follow the recommendations of the mfg/distributor! Gerard (the Moki importer) calls for SOME castor oil and very little nitro. I have used Mach7, 5% nitro with half-and-half castor/synthetic with great results. You can also get this with all castor or 25% castor direct from Morgan Fuels. Buying three cases at a time, I pay $11.00 per gallon, including UPS AND hazmat. To me, it"s not worth the time and trouble to buy everything separately and mix my own. I also run my 2.10 through 3/32 fuel line while some other fuels require 1/8 line. This tells me I am getting better fuel economy than they are. Also note that when you buy nitro, by law it cannot be 100% pure for safety reasons. An old boat racer buddy used to buy a barrel(!) of 50% nitro/50%alcohol and add castor oil to make 35% racing fuel. It worked fine.

Hi guys,
I've just bought my first Moki([:D])1.80,and would like to know if 5%castor and 15%syn with 5%nitro will hurt this? As this is all i buy for all my smaller planes but i might have to resort to making my own fuel if they suck as much fuel as ppl say.

I've been told that i can order the same fuel in at 10/10 mix with no nitro if i want.Id like to have some syn oil for the clean burning it has,I've run a 46 with just castor and it is a pain getting the sludge off at the end of the day.

I'll be running it on 10/10 mix i think.I dont realy see the need for nitro in this motor, as a fellow flyer(also Phil)has a 1.8 in a high wing glider tug and it has oodles of power and a very low idle,he even has trouble stoping it.

I cant wait to fit it in its plane and try it out.

Half half is fine.

I always use a little nitro just to help with idle etc, but I'm in Canberra so elevation is 688 meters.

I know you will enjoy the Moki. I now have 4 and each one strong yet docile handling

Over the winter i purchased a plane with a new mok 2.10 in it. I have some Red Max fuel for my Super Tiger 3000. Can i run this fuel in the moki?

Hi, BIG super tiger fuels are usually low on oil 10-12%. What is the RedMax oil % ?. Moki recommends 18-20% oil. It may work good but it is not what moki recommends. /Amir

I ran my 180 and now my 135 on Klotz 100.

It is a 5castor/15syn mix.Both engines run like trains on it and with no nitro..I have tryed up to 10% nitro on both motors and it didnt make any diference to how they ran,only cost.

I mix my own fuel using Sunoco pure methanol and Klotz Oil. I blend for 20% total oil content with 25% of that being Castor and the balance Synthetic. My Moki 2.10 runs great on this simple blend - idles well, makes gobs of power. I am totaly sold on the Moki and the 0% nitro blend.

Thanks for the feed back. Red max said the oil content for the fuel i have is 12 %, so if i want to use it i will have to add oil.
