I'm very new to R/C's and I was wondering what the advantages are to mixing your own fuel. From what I have read so far, there are economical advantages. Aside from that, what else? Also, how much money would I save from let's say buying a 15% nitro 18%(20/80)oil compared to making my own.

Convenience is a big factor for me and my Mokis. They can really go thru some juice. I also use Ritch’s Brew too. They are based in Houston so maybe if I lived there I just might not brew my own tho. RB is very good fuel and I like it a lot.

Geish,
Its probably much easier and convienent for fyou to pick up fuel at a local hobby shop. You don't have to worry about buying chemicals, storing them, or making the wrong guesses when a company has already done all that for you. you also have the haz issues in storage, handeling and obtaining the chemicals.
Welcome to the hobby.

Maybe things are different in America but if there's a supplier of methanol etc close enough to you then there's no real difference between going to your LHS or a fuel supplier. Either way you're out buying fuel. Storage is a non existent problem too, if you buy ready made you have to keep it somewhere. Why not in the garage alongside your car that's got a far more flammable fuel in the tank?
