Bruno I kinda had to laugh a little at your comment. That bird looks so good alot of guys don't know that stab. difference exists between the kit and ARF/RTC planes. No matter it will look great I'm sure. It was done for the ease of packaging and shiping.

Looking foward to the finish, Leroy

who originally said: "the older you get the more you realize you don't know!"
When for now the project is moving forward, the tail wheel gear doors are installed and working on a closing mechanism. Due to the design the retract's arc of rotation has so much travel that I won't connect the gear doors to the leg, instead I'll have one bell-crank for each door that will rotate in contact of the retracts' leg.
The servo tray which I laminated with carbon fiber is installed, 2 elevator servos on each end with the stock rod to actuate the elevators. As for the rudder and tail wheel steering both will be connected to the controls via pull-pull cables.

Bruno,

Once again, you have motivated me to get busy on a project! I crashed this sucker two or three years ago due to an in-flight failure of the rudder servo. She was so badly damaged that I wasn't thrilled with the prospect of putting her back together but, your 'Stang sat for a long time too and now since your's is getting the attention she's deserved for several years, I thought I'd make a run at getting my "Princess" ready for flight as well. Perhaps 2013 will be the year of the return of the Mustangs! Here's a few shots of the progress after much wing repair and rebuilding the fuse from the windscreen forward.

OMG........!!!!!!!!!!!! Say it ain't so.....!!!

The mighty Princess is being readied for duty in the war torn skies over Colorado. Me to Fytrjok.........After Sam crash landed his P-51B in September at our field, (you remember the blue one), I saved the fuse (that's all that was left), from the Dumpster. It is totally stripped and is in the midst of a rekit. The wing was totally demolished and was in splinters, it did make the dumpster dive. A new wing is on order and should be in by the end of Novemeber if you can believe Tower HObbies.

Bruno........what cockpit did you say you are going to use? I really don't like the Tower Hobbies one, it's kind of hokie Pokie. I'll post some pics later down the road a bit.

Doug, I can see it now..............the 3 B's doing it down low WOT @ WOD-2013 ROCK N ROLL........

I JUST LOVE THIS SH*T CAPTAIN RON

Princess got awaken and finally has the attention from her prince, looks like she will be the beauty as she was before!
The cockpit pit was purchased from INZPAN, I think it is also available from IflyTalies

Why ya want to spend all that money for a interior that you have to do all the work to finish. Sorta fun making all the little googies that go in there and sticking them on the cheepo TF cockpit kit. Instrament pannel was made from scratch, the one in the kit is pretty bad. I just copied to decal sheets to dress mine up and it came out fairly nice, what do you think? I made all the gauges also.

That pilot figure is a Blue Box Toys figure. No longer produced, you can find them on ebay and for sale here on RCU. In fact, Bruno may even be selling one or two from his collection.
Hey Cap'n Ron! Yep she'll be airworthy again soon! I'm glad you're going to resurrect the Blue-nose...she's always been a great flyer. By the way, Mike Hammond has rebuilt his Red-nose as well and it'll be ready for the summer flying circuit. I'll never forget the "three B's" formation flight we did at WOD a few years back...here's a few shots of that memorable flight.

YUP.............GOOD STUFF DOUG...!!!! WE'LL DO IT AGAIN AT WOD 013.

I'm trying to figure out what I want to cover the old blue nose with now that she's stripped down. That's how the conversation got started today on What Princess was covered with. Hence, the call to you and you settled the argument.

BTW...............SHE'S (Princess) is LOOOOOKIN GOOOOD........ We were all out to the field today, but nobody flew. We got so busy bull shi**ing that nobody got an airplane together and flew. All of a sudden, it's 1:30 and everybodies heading HOME for the game. JEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Leroy, Your cockpit looks great.........nice work.

Too funny!! BS'ing at the field is critically important, in fact I think it's just as much a part of our hobby as building, flying or breathing
but...ya gotta get at least one flight in! Just think of all that good air you guys wasted! I mean Bruno and I got in at least three or four flights together.... in between solving the worlds many crises. Hope you can make it on Wednesday!

well, I will get the 1st flight this upcoming spring....hopefully. It is modeled after Col. Charles Lane of the Tuskegee Airmen. Glass and painted and weathered with an airbrush. The paint is combination model masters and rustoleum. G52, futaba all around and a Tuskegee Airman pilot figure. I plan on being there at WOR......again. We will see

OK Ram bro,
parden me if I got quite a giggle out of the African American pilot.............MAN..........HE IS BLACK........And yes I know he's suppose to be. Great look on the Cockpit and the opening canopy.......Love the scale.

Ok, now, parden me again if I steal a little of this forum to do some chest pounding. We had a mini Winter Warbirds Over Denver yesterday and we flew our arsess off. I even flew two birds twice each which was/is very unusual for me, I know fytrjok flew two airplanes, flyingchef flew the ever famous Bearcat and his little Fokke Wulk foamie 3 or 4 times each......... Needless to say, it was fun had by all three participants.....Maybe we start something here. Next Novembe...........WINTER WARBIRDS OVER DENVER........A pic shows the three weary happy warbird jockies at the end of the day. I'm the goodlooking one on the right.........LOL

BTW flyingchef & Fytrjok............I got the Brison on my Mustang running............I tried a brand new spark plug, still nothing......hooked up a new ignition that I had for a brand new 4.2 Brison, and she started right up.........So, I'll call Bill Jensen at B&J engine services Monday and order a new ignition for it the 4.2.........I'm just gonna install the one I have in the plane and go fly Sunday. Thanks again guys for Wednesday..........I had a ball. How about dropping down to Birds of Prey field for a day of flying this winter?

Yup, what a gorgeous day! 72 degrees, 5 mph breeze down the runway and it's the middle of November! Excellent formation and great camaraderie. That's what it's all about!!
Ron, glad you got the Brison running again so quickly. Great to fly with you...we'll have to do it again soon wherever it may be!
