Today was one of those perfect winter days in Pueblo West Colorado. Sunny skies, 65 degrees and a light breeze down the runway. Two flights on Ferocious Frankie, she's back and so is that amazing little Brison. I even let Duane fly it. Then off to watch those Broncos barely pull one out against the lowly 1 and 9 Chiefs.

Captain Ron,

I was getting out my Christmas lights and tree and ran across some old pictures when I first learned to fly at Sky Corral back in 79-80 timeframe. Pics included:
- Sam's Ki-61 Tony ( camouflage with red tail and I think a rossi black head for power,)
- Dale Alyea royal spitfire,
-Bill Pacheck's royal Oscar. He took this to the NATS in Lincoln in 1979 . he was my instructor.

My how times have changed. I hear Duane is working on a Do-335?

Say Hi to Sam and Duane for me.

R, Mike Purcell
Link to my mustang, 31st FG, Italy 1943-44. http://www.rcuniverse.com/gallery/galleryitemSolo.cfm?itemid=235272

Not a good time for me I have final exams on Wednesday, as for the P51 progress I am on hold until the cockpit kit shows up. I got an email from InZpan and it should arrives sometime next week, I need it to be installed before finishing the canopy installation then I can start priming the fuse!

Making progress. Adding detail where I can and where it shows up the best. Been working on the Tony Howard exhaust stacks...should end up looking great. Got the retracts and air system installed. Those inner gear doors are a pain but worth it in the air. Here's a few shots...first time she's been on her feet in three years!!

How come you did the hit & miss lines & rivets. Nice looking thow , is that Flite Metal for hatches and leading edge, good contrast, intresting concept.

Making some more progress. Got the Tony Howard exhaust done...It's a nice kit, takes some time but is WAY better than the stock manifolds. Still adding some bits of Flite Metal here and there. I'm not going to completely cover it in metal...too much weight and work for an ARC that is destined to be an every-weekend knock-around flyer. Finally got the geometry right on the inner gear doors. Really considering getting Bruno to machine the retracts for a few more degrees of extension. As soon as I get the nose art on her I'll start the weathering process. All of the guts are in her, control surfaces are installed and linkages are hooked up. Getting closer!!

Nice work Doug, can't wait to see this beauty in the air!
Finally I made some progress on my Mustang, the cockpit kit showed up few days ago so I went back to work right away. The main instruments panel is completed, started on the cockpit setup by gluing some G10 for the side panels, I then used sign foam board for the floor and front bulkhead.
Took also a break and finished to install the Christmas lights.

The cockpit is almost done just have to glue the seat and bullet proof plate behind the pilot. Next step is to install the sliding canopy.

Flyingchef, where did you get the sliding canopy parts? Did you make it yourself?

Chad the sliding canopy set was manufactured by Aerotech, the company has closed since and not sure if it has been purchased bu another party. I hope to see some of their products on the market again.
Too early to plan for WOR but hope to make it with this Mustang and my Jerry Bates 1/4.5 Sea Fury which I am also working on.
The event was a lot of fun this year!
Little more details in the cockpit, I added a wood floor section made of 1/64 ply then tainted and waxed, the plate are polished aluminum.
The rudder pedals and control stick are in as well.

Front wind screen and canopy separated, nice and smooth sliding. Applied first coat of primer ( will try to limit the spraying in the basement, my little fan is too small to evacuate the fumes) then touch putty on the spot which pretty much the whole airplane!

Not sure if I want to use Klass-Kote aluminum paint or aluminum tape for the fuselage. I tested some aluminum tape to see the look.
