I finally finished converting the Formula to electric. It took some fancy footwork to balance, but it worked out. Waiting impatiently for a maiden.

"Last time" has a very sad connotation.

Hey Jack, I don't have any pics, but Frank and Jim can attest to the fact that your maiden was much better than mine... 8-{

It's gone. After several false starts to fly the maiden (I obviousy was out of my mind when I programed the servo's), I finally managed to get it airborn only to discover it would not fly level. It insisted on flying with the nose almost straight up! Once in the air the wind pushed it away from me, right towards the freeway. I was able to keep it airborn long enough to get past the roads. It finally came down in a melon field on the other side of the highway entrance road. The crater was about 3" deep, everything in front of the wings was ripped off, the battery has a significant dent in it, and the fuse is busted up into the canopy area.
I figure it was massively tail heavy- either the CG I used was wrong or I was still delusional when I set it.

Sounds as if the CG gods did not look favorably upon the "fancy footwork" that was used to balance it. [>:]

Great tool for learning to hover though!

Yea, good thing you had the camping out fun to equalize the plane misfortunes.
Surprised you guys stayed for both days-thought your original plans were for Sat. only. Maybe on future cold nights Frank will let you sleep with him in his sleeping bag.
