On ebay there's a metal 1/8 scale Tiger 1 hull that's for sale and it was manufactured by some company by the name of ModelWorks and/or Winson. I can't find any info on these companies and am just curious if any of you larger scale tankers have heard anything about'em. The hull is an older manufactured one and since it's made of steel it's pretty HEAVY.

The same gentleman that's selling it also has a hull for an RC Armory KT listed with it. Some other guy is selling an earlier unbuilt RCA KT on the site also. Look under the 1/8 rc tanks site.

Thanks! Mike in Kentucky

Mike, Modelworks used to be a British company they mainly built large scale model trains the Tiger was one of their side lines, Modelworks closed about 5 years ago, detail was not good and if memory serves me well you bought this model in instalments and received the parts in instalments when they closed there was a few incomplete models for sale, the biggest problem was if they didn’t get all the drive system as they would then have to make their own, I don’t think many were made probably less than 20, questions to ask is if it’s complete if not then you are on your own and will have to scratch build parts, price wise 8 years ago they were about £2500 new.

Thanks for the info rivetcounter. Since it's only the hull for sale with nothing else it would be more trouble than it's worth. I had never heard of that company before and was curious.

The ad said it would be shipped in two boxes, one 45 pounds and the other 35, then IF just the HULL weighs around 70-80 (+/-) then that sure would be a MONSTER HEAVY of a tank with tracks, roadwheels, turret, motors, etc., together!!

Thanks again! Mike

If it’s just the hull I would find out exactly what was included, these tanks were all metal and brass hence the weight, if you are interested in a 1/8 Tiger I would suggest this http://www.rcarmory.com/kit_tiger1.html#pictures it way work out cheaper than the Modelworks Tiger especially if you have to scratch build an entire turret.
