I seen a Spektrun Full Range AR500 Rx on E-Bay for $23.. When I Google'd it, a lot of "complaint" search results came up.. Just curious if anyone here has had one of these Rx? Should I stay away from this Rx? Would it be a good Rx for my Sig MK II trainer?

I have a friend who has one in a Blue Hawk Ultimate bipe. No issues.

Ditto never a seconds trouble
However the new ar400 is a cut above it in antenna setup - and 30 bucks
Also the AR500 is actually a 4 channel with two aileron port locations !
product for the price - the new AR400 is an easy winner
PS I also use these - work great at any distance

If it's an older one. I'd be sure to run it with a 6V battery. I run all my RX's with 6V batteries.

Be careful! the 500 is a four (4) channel rx with two plug sockets for aileron channel
spend the 30 buckson the new AR400. better -upgraded rx and secondary rx.

rmh, I must correct your statement. (I was going to let it slide the first time) The AR500 is a 5 channel receiver with a 6th port, as a "Y" for the ailerons.
I have a few, at least three in use. I often mate the fifth channel as 2nd aileron in my 9303, 9503, or 12X to take advantage of aileron differential. I never use the 6th port, other than possibly a second battery input.

As for advise, I would recomend the AR600 over the now discontinued AR500. The antenna configuration in itself is well worth the newer design.
Hope this helps,
-Snuts-

OK- - I did not go look - my last 5 is in a foamie just remembered the Y setup on aileron- anyway the four has an improved antenna system.
As does the 6 channel - The gear /aileron mix was the fix on those -as you noted -to get split aileron function.
