Hi Guys,

I'd like to join as well. I have a Concept Models kit I bought a year or so ago but haven't started it yet as I'm finishing up my Balsa USA Stearman. I just love these old planes.

Wow!! Didn't know this would take off (no pun intended) like it did!! I'm really impressed with the quality and diversity of the Fleet Brotherhood. Some great looking Fleets out there!

OK, here's the next big idea. Consider a "Meeting of the Fleets" sometime in the summer of 2013. I'd offer to host here in the Kalamazoo Michigan area at our flying field at the Gilmore Car Museum www.gilmorecarmuseum.org/. Lots of antique cars and a great museum, along with a huge flying site with no restriction on the size of aircraft...just the place for aircraft of the "Golden Age of Aviation!" Camping on-site (primitive, I think) when they hold car events in the summer and we can see if we would be permitted to do the same. Maybe open it up to other biplanes of the Golden Age as well, to attract more flyers.

Let me know what you think.

Please count me in. I have the 1/6 scale Concept Fleet with an Enya 80C four stroke engine. I built it in 1989 and still have it flying condition. What number am I!

I have the 1/6 scale Concept Fleet as well. It was built several years ago by a fellow modeler who never flew it and I bought at a swap meet. It currently has an OS 42 four stroke.

I'd like to join this Brotherhood too!

Not sure I could make out to Michigan, but I do have a brother who lives in Ferndale.

Maybe an event in the Massachusetts or northern Connecticut area for us Northeastern guys?

Jaybird, would that engine be an O.S. .40 four-stroke?

An idea worth looking into, John. Actually, anything from the Golden Era of Aviation is good. I can just see it now, a gaggle of Fleets in the air with nobody knowing which is which. By the way, that happened to a guy from my club one time with PT-19's.

retransit,

Got my numbers mixed up...

The engine in the first picture is an OS 40 two stroke. I picked up an older OS 48 four stroke at a swap meet last fall and that can be seen in the picture sitting on the table.

Hook me up....
I have a NIB Concept models kit don't know when I will build it but sometime soon. I am not sure of the power but I saw an Enya 240 VTwin mentioned and this might be the plane to show case my newly aquired V twin in. I know the sound would be awsome. I also have a gassser that would be a bit easier on the finish.

Does anyone know the amount of dihedral of the lower wing panels, in degrees, of the 1/4 scale Concept Fleet?

I'm almost finished with the structure on my Fleet. I need to figure out the dihedral angle before constructing the N-struts.

Use the struts or strut dimension before the crash Bob.  Should get you close..real close.

Look what I just brought back home.... Lots of dust as the fellow I sold it to put it on a high shelf and didn't do anything with it. 15 years of dust. Needs more work on the landing gear and I will frame up a new fin and rudder to replicate the 16B.   I don't know why I feel like I just found a nitch in an aviation museum.   Even smells dusty and oily.

IAWs Jitter's Banner Tow Service from Frog Suck , Texas will be back in bizz soon.
