Bob..(retransit)  ... is that a Sterling or Royal Stearman?

Neither. It is an RCM plans (early 70;s) built aircraft. I bought it at the LHS a few years ago, flew and crashed and rebuilt it. Couldn't resist when I saw it hanging from the ceiling. All it needed was a larger Rx battery. Came with the Tx too. I swapped out the Supertigre .90 for a Saito 1.25.

Try mixing your own yellow. But you'd need yellow, white, green, red, etc.

You'll need red, yellow and blue with white to change the shade and wash it out a bit. Green is yellow and blue.

The blue on my Stearman was mixed by eyeballing a full size aircraft picture. You can do a pretty good job by getting the ratios correct on a small batch and then extrapolating.

Downside is you'll have to buy a bunch of paint. Upside is you'll have paint for future uses...

I think I will have it matched. I need to get the engine running first. I took the plugs out and they all work. I could see the pistons through the plug hole and they are clean no deposits on them at all. I don't think it was run much. The fuel tank has some residue in it so it was run at some point.

Wing Incidence

Ray - What incidence did you use on your big Fleet? Looks like the bottom wing is showing almost 1 degree positive if my math is right. I think I read here that the Concept Fleets were set at 0/0, top and bottom.

Just curious if those that are flying used anything different?

Thanks....Gordon

Gordon, mine is at 0/0. No down thrust, no right thrust and horizontal stab with 1/8" shim at the leading edge. With these measurements, my previous Fleet did not porpoise in the air on application of power and was straight as an arrow in flight. The wheels were toed in a bit to keep it straight down the runway on takeoff before the tail lifted. The lower wing should have two degrees of dihedral to allow it to stall AFTER the upper wing and to keep the ailerons functional in a stall condition.

I just returned from a nice weekend in Port Orange, Fla.   I wish I had time to visit your field Bob but t'was a new Grandaughter who needed attention.

Too damn many motorcycles there.

On the incidence question... I haven't began the assembly of wings yet.   It will be zero top and zero bottom as is the practice on the full scale of a friends.   I didn't get to finding the Type Certificate Data yet to see what the Fed's have.

Do note the fin on the Model 16B is assemetrical to help compensate for any torque.   I built my fin the same way.  We'll see if it makes any difference.

Too damn many biker wanna be s in Fla. this weekend.   All hours of the night.   Seems our LaQuinta was headquarters for the sheeple.

On the return trip down I-95, we witnessed on motorcyle on the side of the road completely burned to a crisp with the rider starring on in disbelief.  Almost reminded me of the old West Calvary soldier having to shoot his lame horse.

It's in the Hangar @ Triple Tree Aerodrome I do believe.

I have always liked Mr. Nabors' Fleet. Just a BEAUTIFUL airplane !

For some of you guys not familiar with my crashed Fleet, the pics in post #1 are the same aircraft. It was a 25 or 30 year old Fleet that was given to me (free). I had to completely refurbish it and I added an ASP 5-cylinder 4-stroke for power. Free only cost me $1700 by the time I was finished.

The pic below is what I did to it.

Bob

Holy smokes! This is the plane with the ASP radial on it? What happened?

You never mentioned it in the engine thread! Did your engine suffer crash damage?
