EBay has them off and on.  Since they are no longer made, the prices are creeping up so I wouldn't delay.

Some pics of covering with the hair setting tape. The tape gets used up fast. This was almost a whole roll. The package says 18 yards, but I think it's alot less. I ordered a bunch more...

Dave

Very nice work Dave....smooth and sublime... what color will you be painting?

Thanks Mein Duff...

Forest green for the fuselage and a cream color for the wings and tail with a stripe/arrow down the side of the fuse, fleet logo on the fin or rudder. Randolph dope from Aircraft Spruce. This is going to be a couldabeen scheme, not modeled after any particular original airplane but similar to these.

Randolph colors as you show are Diana Cream and Forest Green if that will help.   I used the Diana Cream on my Fleet.  The green looks like Forest Green.

I have a Qt of Diana ceeam, but yhe color doesn't look right. It was more like beige. So I ordered Tuscon Cream. Do you have any pics of yours? I looked, but I guess the all went bye-bye when RCU dumped your stuff.

No, I've got all the photos.   Diana Cream is an interesting work of art.   Always dries to a bit  different shade.   Don't forget the retarders as blushing will hasten more paint thus more blush unless you paint your beauty in Tucson Arizona.  Good quality nose hose if you spray.

By the by, my Fleet is nearing completion of an over haul and hopefully , this weekend coming or next week she'll take to the air again.   I'm beginning to hate the newer computer radios.   Too many on screen apps to forget so it looks like I'll be carring the manual in my back pocket alot.

I'm originally from NYC. A friend of mine used to say, "I want to see what I'm breathing." I guess spray dust would work.

Yeah, yours looks like what I'm after. And actually, I went out and brushed some on and it actually looks better. The little sample on the can looks really brown. but maybe it's the light in my garage.

BTW, I have the color chart from Randolph. And we definitely need retarder where I live, especially this time of year! I have a gallon.

You got to keep mixing the stuff as there are alot of gray and silver pigments floating around.  Scrape the bottom of the can before you mix it up and you might see some of what I describe.   The AN Orange/Yellow I used on the 3rd scale was really loaded and even after several minutes of stick mixing, I coud see a few whisps of it on the surface.   It never came out on the final coats so....   2 quarts of yellow and equal parts retarder and thinner for a total of 1 gallon of color.   Black is holding out well and it is Sig.

I tried to spray the bird in my closed garage in the mid winter.   No way, My heart rate jumped up and got a bit of tunnel vision.   I got a good quality mask and that gave me some help.   Stil, the fumes are absorbed by the eyes so a full face deal I had when I worked for a carriage company would be tops.  We sprayed Nason, and all the horrific stuff the Dupont puts out.   Key is if there are two parts, you ought to have some nose and eye protection.

As far as video, I'm not so equipped or inclined.   A friend did shoot the maiden flight and it is on VHS.  I couldn't tell you where that is.  I can't even find the Evening News item made when we were PR ing a flying.

If all works as hoped, Bob can watch it in Deland in February.  Not sure if the 3rd will be complete but it might make the trailer for show anyway.

..of which Bob, will there be a swap table or such at your flyin?

Ray W.

Hello all
I will be getting a kit from Hank as soon as he gets back home. I have a 1/5 scale Waco on the work bench now I plan on starting the Fleet as soon as the Waco is finished.
Dave,
I really like the green & cream navy fleet do you have any more pictures of this one or any information you can share.
I would also like to sign up to the Brotherhood as I’m sure I’ll have many questions when I get started.
Thanks
