Status: offline 		  Good photo Bob, of the fleet. I remember some yrs. back. they had TOP GUN held in Erving Tx. A fellow had a fleet of the same plane. And documentaion. I have photos of it.  My computor is 11yrs old and not set up to send photos. If you have any documentaion, I would like a copy.  HANK #20.

My Fleet needed some weight in the tail and I accomplished that by moving the servos to the rear and placing the batteries under the floor in the rear cockpit. Bob, I am somewhat relieved to hear that a heavy 5 or 7 cyl engine will work on the Fleet. I recently picked up a 7-70 Seide engine that weighs also in 5-6 lb range ( haven't weighed it yet)...I had been advised that this engine would be too heavy for a 1/4 cscale normal size bipe ( as oppsed to a larger two seater WWi bird with larger wings and lighter wing loading for example)
The Fleet I have and photo documentation for judging is based on a real 7 cyl Warner engine I'm pretty sure.

I plan to replace the Saito 220 ( plenty of power) with the Seidel....larger prop and lower RPMs is the goal..and more realistic in the air.

Eric, that Seidel should look great and will probably weigh about the same as the ASP.

Merely click through all the pix of which, one is the Fleet from the bottom.   I do like the paint scheme and looks like the aft upper wing tie fittings may indicate a reasonable CG start.

Status: offline 		I finished the wing covering with the pinking tape an glue dots. I was trying to remember what I used for the fixture to paint the wings. It escaped me so I made another mounting. A short video shows how it works:

Lastly look for N2Y-1.  Interesting it has a steel prop instead of the standard issue Sensenich wood beauty.

Nice stuff just the same.

What does N/B mean in this case? Never Built?..or New Built?... or do you mean NIB ( New in Box?)

Don't you have problems with over spray outside? I painted a fence once and over spray got on a car two houses over and I had to pay to have it buff out.

I use Klasskote and it takes a period of time to cure. Lacquer will not stick, as it dries real fast and all you have is dust. Enamel is about the same as Klasskote as far as drying is concerned.

That being said, you can get the cured over-spray off with a clay bar system. Buffing, unfortunately, removes paint, along with the offensive over-spray. I've used a clay bar on my cars for years and it removes everything, including road grime that soap and water won't. I swear by it. The clay bar is rubbed over the paint surface with a lubricant, such as Maguier's Detailer. Just spritz the Detailer on the paint and rub the clay bar over the surface. Wipe dry with a clean cloth. It comes out as smooth as a baby's butt without harming the paint. The first time I used it, I couldn't believe it. If your paint is faded, it won't help that problem. That is when you need a cleaner polish.

Of course after the clay bar, you must apply a wax to protect the paint surface.

The clay bar also works on Monokote.

Status: offline 		If you want to cut down on overspray, use an HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) gun. Lower pressure, less overspray, more material on the work.

Status: offline 		This happen a long time ago at a different house so I don't remember the setup. At this house I think I will be ok but I have not sprayed hear yet. I don't have a gun but I do have a compressor. I will be looking at Lowes and other places for one.

On the Fleet I have the elevator fixed and I got wood to make the new rudder. I got paint matched at Lowes so we will see how it goes.

Status: offline 		   STEVE, I SET MY P.S.I.  AT #4  JUST ENOUGH  AIR TO PUSH THE PAINT THROUGH THE CANASTER.  i SET MY SPRAY NOSIL TO  # 2 SETTING. THIS GIVES ME A SPRAY PATTERN OF 1 1/2 IN.  YOU WANT THE PAINT ON THE OBJECT, NOT IN THE AIR.   IT ALSO ELEMINATES PAINT PIGMENTS  DUST FALLING BACK ON  UR  OBJECTS.    HANK .
