I also have an inline filter and a filter in the gas can, but you may find, as I have that some kind of lint builds up in the internal filter. It may be from the alcohol in the gas. Maybe something in the fuel crystalizes. Has appeared in differenct planes; and only in the internal filter.

Chief also offers the replacement parts for Pilot planes for the cost of postage, via the manufacturer. I broke the engine box off of my EF Yak and luckily a friend had one from the Yak he had crashed. Trying to get the alignment right using ply stock would have been a challenge. With Pilot's program, it would have been a relativley easy fix.

Do the wood screws that come with those metal control horns secure the horns well?

Yes the screws secure the horns well.  ALWAYS drill the holes, insert the screws, add 2 drops of thin CA, and let harden.  Then reinsert your screws.  Not only does is make the ply or hardwood insert harder it also hardens any balsa below and helps secure the insert also.  I have yet to have one pull out. This is hardware from an Aeroworks 50cc Ultimate.

Thanks for the update.  I too think the landing gear would look better painted.  I have some white appliance epoxy that will do the trick.  Can you post a photo of the gear.  I think that may make it stand out even more.

Here ya go...

Ed,
What are you doing for the choke? I plan on going with a manual choke. I just have to figure out how to route the rod.

Spridal;
Is that the DLE 55RA you have on the nose?? If so, will the stock muffler fit without mod to the engine box?? I am going with that set up on my R90!!
Thanks for the info!!

Yes,
That's a DLE 55RA up front. The muffler and stand-offs fit perfect with no mods. Once the cowl is installed, the exhaust protrudes slightly and is hardly seen. All in all a very good fit.

Do you have any pictures with the DLE 55RA and cowl installed?

I got the cowl on last night, no linkage yet but was looking at the choke to see where it could go.  I will do some more tonight and that is one of the things I was planning on doing.
The DLA 56 pitts muffler fit OK however I had to cut some clearance on the side.  Wish I had the 55RA and that would have solved that problem.
Will post a pic once I figure out how the manual linkage will work.  I used a 4 point servo arm with 2 arms cut off to act like a bellcrank and the rod exited on the bottom of the cowl on the Ultimate, will have to see if that will work on this one.

Ed,
I decided to use the method I learned from AeroWorks. Simply run the choke rod to the front of the cowl. Makes things simple and effective. See page 53 of the Aeroworks 50cc Edge Manual. I also setup my throttle the same way as suggested in thier manual.

It is the garbage that just dumped all over my truck yesterday. It was worse than this before it finally stopped. We got a good 6". Far too early for this stuff.

Here's the pics. Remember, these pics were taken while kneeling below the aircraft. While standing or even from a distance the engine and muffler are pretty much hidden from sight.
