Status: offline 		I have a Quadra 35cc motor and the manual says to mix the gas 85% methanol 10% oil and 5% nitro how would you mix up 2 gallons?

Status: offline 		I have a Quadra 35 that I have been flying for several years now. The fuel mix is just like a chainsaw engine. 16 to 1, or 20 to 1 gasoline to oil mix. I have no idea where you got that picture from. I have the original owners manual and it lists the mixtures as I stated above. Hope this helps.

Status: offline 		I am confused here is it gas or glow? For glow as you posted in the pic, it would be 25.6 oz of oil to 2 gallons, and 12.8 oz of nitro.....mixing your own fuel is expensive, why not use a commerical brand? For gas run a good synthetic oil after break in at 40:1, during break in run a good ashless oil like Lawn Boy at 32:1. I've started running ethonol free.

It's just Math,, per gallon below, double for 2 gallons

85% of 128oz = 108.8 oz. Meth.
10% = 12.8 oz oil
5% - 6.4 oz nitro

Status: offline 		I have several Quadras and have run them for years..They are just the same as any of our other two cycle motors like our chain saws or our weed whackers . They run on mixed gas...I like to use Amsoil at about 40 to 1 .. I have never had a problem ..Everybody will have their own favorite mix and that just goes to show it's not all that critical...I also run DLE20's and DLE'30s and I and I am running a MVVS 35 along with two Zenoah G62's and they all run on the same mix along with the dirt bikes and the lawn mower etc etc etc... and they are all running fine..They will out last me...I do really try to keep my gas fresh and clean...I keep it as cool as I can and I store it in the dark . I have a locked storage shed detached from the house where I can keep my gasoline jugs...I would suggest just mixing up two gallons of mix gasoline with what ever mix synthetic oil you fancy at arond 35 to 1 ... One thing I have been told is that you are not supposto ever use water cool oil mix in an air cool motor . I do not know why ..So dont use your outboard motor gas in your plane.....

Status: offline 		I'm not real sure what engine I have I"m told its a 35 but I don't know how to tell what engine I have the only thing I have found is on the S/N the first # is a 3 which I read that the 3 means its a 35cc here are some pic if it helps
also should I just use a 20: to 1 or use the 85% of 128oz = 108.8 Meth 10% = 12.8 oz oil 5% - 6.4 oz nitro

Status: offline 		Yours is a gasoline engine. The picture is the fuel mixture for a glow engine. There are many discussions regarding types of oils and ratios. Personally i would go with a mid grade gasoline and Red Line oil at 40:1, that is 3.2 ounces of oil for every gallon of gasoline. However, any good oil at 32:1 to 40:1 will be fine. For example Lawn Boy or Stihl, etc. Do not add any other oils or nitro.

Status: offline 		I agree with oldscaleguy. This is a gasoline engine not a glow engine. It runs just like your weedeater, leaf blower, chain saw , or what ever. Use a gasoline/oil mix. 40-1 is fine. 32-1 is better, (IMO). Do not run alcohol through this engine.

BTW, I had several Quadra's when they popular several years ago. I think yours is a 42 . I don't remember my 35's looking like that, the crankcase and flywheel are different than I remember.

Status: offline 		Yes indeed, you won't have any issues if you run a decent weedeater/chainsaw mix in that engine. Most guys like that 30:1-40:1 range. I am a little more "aggressive" with my mixtures.. it has a lot to do with the fact that my pops has extensive small engine experience and after talking about a recommendation given to me by another modeler, who's opinions I respect immensely, we both decided that 100:1 Amsoil Sabre was what we would use.. I think all the info stated previously is all sound advice so you should be good!!

Status: offline 		for the older Q motors 32:1 penz air cooled is what I use on my 65 75 and 100's have had no problems for 18 yrs.all are still like new.I fly 3 to 4 times a week.

You may be able to tell whether it's a petrol or alky engine by looking at the carb throat. If the carb venturi has about a 16-20mm opening, it's probably a gas engine. If it's much smaller, say around 10mm, it's probably an alky. Either fuel can be run on ignition so that doesn't buy you anything

Status: offline 		I ran 32-1 in both the Quadra and Zinoah. I used the same mix for my chain saws so I never had old gas mixed, it always got used up. The Quadras and Zinoahs are still great engines but they weigh a lot more then the newer engines and don't produce the same power to weight. I still use the Zinoah G-62 when I have a bigger plane on hand. I have a place I can still get some parts for both, B&B or Bennett as mentioned. www.bennettbuilt.com I bought a spring starter for my G-62 about two years ago from them. The spring starter is a life saver as I have gotten older. I'm able to start it with just the one turn and release instead of flipping the prop and hurting the old arm. They have a bunch of cool stuff for these older engines. There phone # is 574-277-0499. I have there 2008 catalog on hand.

Status: offline 		The prop that came on the motor is a 18-6 so I changed it to a 20-8 do yall think this will make the plane fly better with the 18-6 it had no balls

Status: offline 		Yes, a 20 inch is more in line with the engine. 20X 8 is good but if you can borrow a couple of props with a different pitch you could test others. I use the Xoar 20X8 and 20X6 a lot on my Brison 40cc and both work very well. A Lot depends on the plane type too. I have only used that engine in stunt planes like the Extra and Sukhoi. It will be going back into another Sukhoi again next year.
I say borrow a couple of props because once you get into that size the cost of a prop really goes up and testing becomes an expensive proposition. At my field we borrow and loan quite a bit. As long as the shaft size is the same it works out. I bought several 18 inch props and I'm stuck with them. The just didn't work well for me.
