Guys,

In addition to posting events here, please post your events on RC FlightDeck. It doesn't compete with RCU, but it DOES let you set up online pilot registration, fee collection and tracking, maps, team attendance lists, vendor attendance lists and spectator response buttons.

You can also grab the calendar's html code and stick it on your site to use not only for events, but for meetings, etc. It's free and more than 450 organizations use the calendar on their sites. That means when you post your event, it gets automatically published to all of those sites.

The AMA has a big banner linking to RC FlightDeck from its event calendar. It's great for the entire hobby and I hope more clubs and organizations use it.

Have you posted this on RC FlightDeck? If we can get everyone using the FlightDeck module, it will be easier for pilots to register and for event hosts to run their events. The forum is a crappy place to administer events. That's why I created FlightDeck. But we all have to participate to get the most out of it.

Also, you can grab the calendar module for your club site and it expands the network. When one event is posted once, it gets seen on hundreds of sites hosting the FlightDeck module.

The High River RC Jet Club are pleased to announce that Jets Over Cayley 2013 will be held on July 18-21 at AJ Flying Ranch in Cayley, Alberta. That's right 4 days of flying at a private airport with a 4500' x 50' runway. No conflicts with full size traffic because the airport is shut down. We will probably have a potluck supper maybe Friday or Saturday night at the field. I am trying to get Alex to do a fly by in his friend's L-29. He said that it maybe airworthy at our event time. So get your jets all ready and plan to attend Jets Over Cayley 2013 a backdrop of the east range of the Southern Alberta Rockies. See you there.
Another thing that I wanted to add is that there will be storage and charging available in Alex's hangar for your convience.
There will also be dry camping on site.

OK Guys...this is pathetic!! We've got three jet events on RCFlightDeck! Can anyone in this cadre of coordinators and CD's help figure out a way to get the jet events posted on FlightDeck WITH ONLINE REGISTRATION enabled? This will make life much easier for pilots and planners. I'll even throw in 5 tee-shirts for every event that posts AND enables online registration.

The entire reason I built this tools was because it's ridiculous to post mile-long paragraphs in a forum and have it be of much use to guys searching for events to attend over the year. Plus, instead of printing a form, faxing it and doing a separate $$ transaction; it's MUCH easier to just click the event you want and sign up.

I think the Jet community can really benefit from this but I need your guys' help to make it happen.

I will answer ANY questions and HELP anyone who needs help.

The entire premise of FlightDeck is NOT to have a huge text list that is not sortable, searchable, etc. The idea is to have the event hosts actually post their events on FlightDeck so guys can go to ONE place to search for events, register for events, share events, see maps, registered pilots, nearby hotels, etc. Forum software is dreadful for doing this sort of thing.

I get that guys are used to one thing, but I think it keeps us back in the 90's. I think influential guys like YOU can make a difference by NOT posting these lists and instead, helping to rally the event hosts to post on FlightDeck. The entire FlightDeck system is MODULAR so ANYBODY can host a custom calendar on their website. It helps spread the word.

It also helps the event hosts collect money sooner, get more registrants, and be more efficient at running their event. It's hard to get people to break old habits but on RCU when I wrote the marketplace software we did just that and look at the market now. Guys used to post ads in the forum. The new way is much better, but it takes the community to help make it happen.

I hope you see where I'm coming from. You are doing a GOOD SERVICE but if the jet guys had your efforts directed at better technology, we would ALL be better off.
