have 40 size balsa trainer 3.5 pounds with an E flight 25 brush less,10 x6 wood prop, 40 Jetti ESC .
I decided to go with a 4000 Mah 11.1 V battery and a 4 cell nicad rx battery.
Checked CG, put wing on and took here for a test.

Taxied fine, ran straight, pleantey of power.
Tried to take off and once again........plowed into the ground to the left.
2 planes 2 days what Am I missing ?

Status: offline 		To much elevator at take off and not enough speed. Shallower climb out and more speed. Also check wings for warps.

Also I read about the wheels being 2 loose ,need to bring the collars in as well ? They were a little floppy.

I like to have a helper but you can get the idea by yourself.
Use one finger to hold the motor shaft or spinner and then use the other hand
and put a finger under the rudder or very close to the end of the fuse.
Then lift it up and see if it will tip one side or the other.
You of course want it to stay put just perfectly balanced.
You may be able to balance it by just moving your battery.
Sometimes I have to add weight to a wingtip or close to it.
I hope this makes sense.

Lat is OK,
but my CG shifted to tail heavy due to Battery location.
Ready to give it a go. And of corse it just started to rain here in the north east.
I still wanna see if I can slow her down a bit, not used to the high speed at Take off.
But thats in another thread I started.

you said "this thing moves" as in it goes fast?
and then you said your running out of runway
and you want to get it off the ground sooner.
This dosnt add up because if its going fast it should
lift off.
Also i'm wondering about when you said you have a
.25 motor for a .40 plane. is that right?
If thats the case you may have to worry about your
speed controller when going for bigger props or pitches.

Status: offline 		I just ran the numbers you posted, Eflite .25, 40amp ESC and a 4000mah 3s battery. That works out to be about 42 ounces of thrust. your planes weighs in at 56 ounces. It is going to take a long runway to get up to speed. If you get a APC 12X6 electric prop, you should have around 63 ounces of thrust. Or you can go with a 4s battery and a 10X6 prop and it will be around 70 ounces of thrust.

Sounds like you just need more get up and go.

Status: offline 		HOLLY COW ! I put on a 12x6 APC and this thing jumped off the ground. It was dark out side so I just tried it on the street.
I have one inch of clearance from the ground, not good on the grass, Gonna try a 11.5 x5 and see what that does.

Status: offline 		Yes it did help but I had to set her down due to the darkness. It has been raining here for the last week and my field is nothing but mud.
I have a second model and gonna retool with the help of Hobby King.
Just appreciate the help from every one.
Going from glo to Electric is a little bit tricky.

Status: offline 		The minimum prop listed for that motor is an 11X8, so an 11x10 may work although it will be pretty quick at that pitch. But, that's what the throttle stick is for.  

A left bank is to be expected at slow speed, that's the airplane demonstrating it's at the edge of control and the motor torque is greater than the flight controls. Try a bigger nosewheel tire for better prop clearance. It will also give the wing a better angle of attack, helping the plane to fly off instead of jumping off with elevator.
