Considering building an F-100 from plans or get the laser cut parts from LDS. Here is the link:

http://store.laser-design-services.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=21&products_id=48

Does anyone have any experience with this jet? I would be building it and putting a turbine in it.

Terry while i have not built this f 100 i recently had lds cut the parts for a f4 phantom project and bob was great to deal with. The laser cut parts are top notch.

That means alot comming from you Bob. Think I could talk Corman into cutting the wings from foam? This could be my winter project. After the Starfire of course. Getting the F-20 flying was such a kick, I'd like to try another.

Thanks, Bob.
It does come with a built up wing option.

I like the build up wing option. Any more info on this model? Videos? Anything?

What do you do for a canopy? Any other parts needed that will be hard to find?

Terry, I have these plans also. One for list in line. Seems like a decent design. As in all my jets I'll be using EDFs. I'm gonna lay out a wood structured wing that can accomodate Electric retracts. I have to say that LDS has all of my new plan acquisitions. Now to make room to build. As things arrive, I'll start the process and do a build on all of them.

Limeybob- Are the plans for the turbine version with build-up wing a seperate set of drawings? Or is it just one set of drawings for ducted fan version and you have to figure out how things must go together for turbine and build up wings?

Terry

Terry, the built up wing is a separate drawing, created by me,
The appropriate formers have been modified where necessary for a turbine.
Both versions of the formers are included in the kit.
The wing kit has modified formers to mate with the built up wing.

Terry,
I have a set of plans for the F-100 I can bring to JP Sunday if you are interested. Larry is going to fly his F-16 on Sunday. If you go the foam wing direction we can cut a wing the only problem is that it will not cost you 30 or 40 dollars like Bob,s did! Also think of making a plug you could recoupe your costs and beable to quickly make spare parts if needed.

Harry, the canopy does not come with the laser cut parts, Great Planes(Tower) has a F-14 canopy that is the right size, that might work. Also Sig has a selection of canopies
No plans are included, except for the built up wing..

Coreman- Larry called last night about his maiden for Sunday. I'll be there and will bring my F-20 and fly it too. May also bring out the Jackal as it is back together and is a good practice plane. If you can, brings yours also. I'm thinking I'd like to go with the build up wing on the F-100. Looks like a good one to make a plug from for sure. Want to do one together with me? I want to get my Starfire done first though. So it will be a little while. I estimate a start sometime in November for the F-100 and try to be ready for paint in the spring. May not happen, but that is the current plan.

Hi Guys

I built one using those plans but reduced in size to 50” wingspan. This was about five to six years ago, it was powered by Wren 44. I built the fuse more less as shown but the wing is built up out of wood. On the first flights it had a very nasty dutch role, one my friends watching suggested that I add a 1/4” to the fin trailing edge. This cured it and after a dozen flights or so I removed everything and started adding more details and gear doors. The turbine was installed in anther model and so the F-100 hung from the shop ceiling till this spring, I took it down and installed a new P-20 and finished it up, unfortunately I made one of they most stupid's mistakes and four minutes into the flight it went in. So dumb that I am to embarrassed to say what it was but it was a shame as it was flying really nicely. I just finished a YAK-15 and it is flying much better than I could have hope for.
Building from scratch or kits is much more rewarding for myself.

John

John, very nice model. Did you scale down the whole model or just leave off the last couple of inches of wingspan? It's quoted for a 12-14lb turbine, you must have felt the 10lb wren 44 was plenty otherwise you would not have fitted the even lower thrust p20? Can you remember what canopy you used, is it the gp f-14?

Harry, sorry it was 50" long and some were around 45" wing span. It was around 8 pounds with both turbines, the Wren was one of the early ones with 7lb, flight preformance was was really good on both turbines. I had a full inlet with the P-20 and with more details and paint it ended up at about the same wieght, the canopy I molded myself.

Bob- Let me know when you get your laser cut parts in. Love to see them. Glenn was at the field today and said he may want to make one also. Great day today. Got 4 more flights on the F-20. Larry did the maiden on his Cermark F-16. He did a great job with it.

In which case you both might need to download the build feature: http://pulling-gz.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/rc-modeller-plan-and-article-series-f.html

Thanks to Harry C for telling me about this website for RCM plan feature downloads
