The Lipos I ordered at the track.
I have two 5000Mah 25c Duratrax packs in hand right now, charged them half-way last night. These wont be used til next year
but i might go ahead and balance them when my charger gets here Friday.

Purchased 4 yes FOUR 4000mAh Duratrax 25c packs for stock racing.
A Hi Tec charger thats AC/DC that charges 4 packs at the same time.

People here have had good luck with the Duratrax Lipos. I know one guy thats ran them for 2 seasons without issue.

f they are not being used till next year than put them on storage charge...
if you fully charge them, and let them sit you WILL damage them

Personally I wouldn't have charged them at all seeing they more than likely were at storage charge levels.

One pack I discharged half way and it has 8.00V, the other one was 8.17V, What levels is the most dangerous?

3.85V per cell should be about right for storage.

Enjoy the increase in speed and run time and the fact you don't have to juggle a hot NiMh pack anymore (lol..memories)

All my NiMh batteries are crap. They have been run for years and won't even hold a charge, let alone take one. I now have 2S lipo. How should I dispose of the NiMh batteries? Should I discharge them in salt water, and then throw them away, or what?

I think its dangerous to discharged past 3.4v per cell.

3.0 vs is the limit. if your battery rocks up at say 3.25v then u can still charge it but raise the cut off so it finish around 3.5v, thats safe

I dunno about damage, but it appears to me that leaving them charged eventually lowers the useable capacity.  I've got 4000mah batts, and they won't charge up more than about 3000 now.......

i meant 4s not 6s but anyway when i run mine from a full charge my car will run for about 1/4 its normal run time and the the car acts like its hitting lvc. when i plug the battery into the charger it shows 4.0, 3.8, 3.9,4.0 as cell voltages still. why is it going into lvc with that much voltage still in the battery? my lvc is set at 3.2.

I have not been racing lately so ive been putting my lipos in storage mode once per week.
I have 6 Lipo hardcase packs total so i tend to do all 6 of them.
7.60 is the storage charge voltage when i take the packs off the charger. This is what my Hitec X4 A/C Plus stops my packs at each time.
I usually let the charger stop not me stopping the charger. As soon as it beeps the pack is finished.

I’ve been running LiPo’s nowfor about 5 yrs and have talked to a number of people on the proper handling and storage etc etc. What I’ve noticed over the years is my LiPo’s have always come to me almost fully charged. The last four I bought we about 8.3V right out of the box.

I fully charge my LiPo’s regardless of how often they will be used. Doesn’t matter if it’s going to be an hour or over the entire winter. What I will do is about once a month I’ll take each pack out and plug in the balancer and check the voltage. This keeps the cells even and everything safe.

In all the years of doing this I have never seen any negative affects from how I treat or store them. Most of my packs give me around 300 runs before I notce any change in performance or significant run time.

I wouldn’t sweat it..

I sort of sounds like maybe you have something that is causing a heavy load (drain) on the batteries.  Sometimes when a steering servo is starting to crap out, it'll draw a LOT of current, which will lower the voltage, and that could trick your LVC.  Of course, the worst case is that the LVC circuit in your ESC is going bad for some reason.  But I don't know that I've ever heard of that happening.
