I placed a HK order. It included a dozen A123 2300mah cells. Grand total $250. HK has been OK by me ......so far. I see this order is being held by customs. Should I be worried that it will not be delevered? After I placed the order I found out that LIPOs can not be shipped international air freight. Surely HK would not take my money knowing my stuff would be seized. See attached

Don't know about your items, but I just received a package from HK that had been held in international customs New York, New York. I don't think it is an uncommon occurance.

Why would you expect an international shipment to not be held by Customs?
Their job is to inspect all incoming shipments, stop the bad stuff and collect a duty where appropriate.
When you buy stuff from over seas you are supposed to pay an import duty.
When you buy stuff from out of state you are supposed to pay sales tax - in most states.
Just the massive volume prevents them from doing this 100% so they must use statistics.
If you buy much then the odds increase you will eventually be inspected and levied a duty.
It's all part of the game, there are risks and rewards; and we save a lot of money playing the game.

Good Luck,

Because it has never happened before.

If US customs wants and import duty, can I send it back to HK and get a refund?? I believe that if import duty's or taxes are due HK should have included them on the front end. It is not my responsibility to keep track of these things. I am a retail customer not an importer of resale goods. It is certainly not right for my government to extort fees for me to take possession of my property.

If they want extra money I am done with HK. I may be finished with them anyway. I already paid way to much for what I got. The shipping fees were huge. I ordered A123 batteries. They treated them as if they were LIPOS. They are not LIPOS. I am switching over to them because of the fact that they are safe and LIPOS are not. The fees are based on the misguided notion that they are dangerous.

I found the same batteries locally and at a cheaper price after I paced the order. I ordered them, received them, and made my packs. The HK order is still hanging in the ethers. Hobby Partz is also close to me and has much of the same items as HK.

You cannot return.

As the importer of goods you are liable to pay the import tax. HK, or any other retailer cannot add these because the tax goes to the country doing the importing so it really isn't the responsibility of HK. The tax is there to discourage you importing therefore buy locally to help your native countries economy. I think. Never did like economics and or politics.

I have been buying stuff from other online from Over Sea's Company's and sometime's you have to pay Duty and sometime's you do not.

If you feel Custom's has been holding it for to long call your USPS.

Also don't send it back for a refund as HK is known to say it was the user who wrecked product sorry no refund and who know's if they won't try and screw you over as well.

Try and tell the judge you speed every day and don't get a ticket so you shouldn't have to pay the one ticket you did get.

Probably but the cost to send the stuff back, prove you sent it back and the time it will
take be fore the refunds arrive aren't going to be worth it.

They are not extorting you, this is a fee they collect to help protect American businesses, especially since they do have to pay the duty.
If you read everything carefully on HK's webpage they tell you that you are responsible for any duties levied. They use methods to try and
reduce your risk but it is still your risk.

Stop being such an entitled cry baby and pay your fair share!

One of the last things you select at check out is to set the percentage you want HK to state your order is worth. Possibly dodgy but you can select 100% and pay duties on the whole order- and if it goes missing claim the whole lot.

Select 15% and pay les duty but if it goes missing or wot be insured for the lot.

Selecting one of these options should have been a heads up?!

I called customs and got some informaiton. They were surprizingly helpfull, knowledgeable and articulate. If the value of the goods is less than $200 then they just pass it along. In my case the stuff was less than that so no big deal. I got my package yesterday. All is well. Sometimes I let myself get worked up prematurely. This was one of those times.

The price including shipping vs just the price of the goods

So you spent over     $50.00   dollars    in shipping?     So where did you save any money, versus  using   any other    supplier such as  Tower,  Hobbico,  Horizon?

In my  Opinion,   it sounds like just another  thinly vailed   "non partial"   promotion for HK by a person that wants to appear as "Just another happy customer" but is actually  a paid representative.

There are enough of those guys  ruining the other  forum site.    We really don't them this  kind of activity here.

What a strange thing to write. I do agree that the shipping costs were too high. I won't be buying from HK China again.

How about we let this thread die?

Are you not aware that HK is paying people to sing their praises in spite of the facts? It isn't ethical, but this company doesn't seem to let ethics stand in the way of a potential profit. For that reason, any time anyone writes about how well HK is performing, we all think "PAID SHILL". Maybe HK should have let a sleeping dog lie as this practice may eventually do them more harm than good.

I am not paid by HK....

Personally I know what I am buying. I've taken the decision to only buy top dollar Tx and Rx. I figure if most other components go (battery motor) I can at least glide down if I have control!

I have many lipos and they all have met my demands often almost 10 x cheaper than the most expensive brand. I know there customer service has a bad rep but touch wood I've only needed customer service once and it was fine. I have ordered so much cheap stuff from them over the last 5yrs that even if my next order goes missing or is faulty I could order again and still have saved money.

There are Definately better (more expensive) products out there but we all make choices based on cost. I would like a bigger house but cannot afford it etc etc.

Goldenduff, I was not saying or implying that you were being paid by HK. I was asking the OP if he was not aware that this is happening.

Fair enough (I wasn't aware people got paid to bias reviews- other than on the HK site were reviewers get a discount if review was useful...judged by HK so useful means positive)

Thanks for the information.
