hi, can someone help me with the cooling setup, its my first build.

I have 2 waterpickups, 2 nipples on piston coup, 2 nipples on mainfould and 2 on the pipe. how do i draw the waterlines?

One line to the manifold, out and to the lower nipple on the cylinder head, then out of the hull. Second line to the pipe and then out of the hull.

I'd go with one to the waterjacket, in low, out high and overboard and the other to manifold then pipe and out.

You are going to be cutting that exhaust header down a lot before you find a tuned length so don't plan your exhaust mounting hardware at that length. You will be looking for 320 - 370mm from exhaust flange to widest part of pipe measuring down the centre of the pipework.

the lenght from the mainfold to widest on the pipe is now 37cm,

is that right?

You are still going to come in some from that, Prestwich instructions. Once you start getting to the sweet spot you will cut the exhaust so you have about 1 cm past the o-rings in the pipe.

Hi Palmen,

Looking like a nice build...

I alway run my water lines as follows.

Pickup 1 > Manifold in> Manifold out to Lower Head Nipple> Higher Nipple out of Hull.
Pickup 2 > To exhaust orings then out the side of hull.

The reason you run waterlines like this is to stop cold seizures... So you warm the water up before it goes into the head.
When you strip you engine and you get marks down the cylinder this is caused by cold water cooling the head to much and it nipping the piston.

As for the exhaust measure ... get a long bit of string..
from the joining split in your manifold. measure around the bend and to the widest point of the pipe. this measurement should be 13.5 inch to start with....
dont let the header pipe go to far in the pipe because this will make it so the pipe will not work correctly.

Another question, can i put my tank or iv bag ( not decide yet)to the right side of the hull to weight up for the pipe?

That is the perfect route for your water lines you will not have any problems with that.

I prefer the centre of the hull between radiobox and motor.

Pipe wise you want to measure as shown on the picture, you will probably end up around 340mm.

One thing I find makes a big performance difference on the Makara is a forward bulkhead, it takes out all the tendancy of the hull to twist and turn at high speeds. I have two like this, and ran them both "before" and "after". It is worth doing. They can also handle a lot of motor, big bores and twins go very well in them.

Great hulls though, my one boat I will not part with.

You shouldn't use that yellow Tygon for water, it expands when it gets hot and will blow right off the nipples, use silicone for water, tygon for fuel. [;)]

 Yee more silicon is on the way, did the setup just for show my set, thanks anyway.
