Still around and doing well.

I have (2) 1/2A's on the board as we speak for my 12 and 8 yr old boys.

Would love to get together once again for some Carolina Crew gatherings.... now to find my hat

- I know Dave (RaineDave) is still around.. just busy with school.

Brian (& Nathan and Andrew)

Brian, time flies. Hard to believe your two small sons that we met back in Dec 2007 are now young men!
Even then they were enthusiasts. Well done!

I'm in Va but only 1 1/2 hrs from Burlington. What do the meets consist of? I had a buddy that lived in Burlington some years back that I use to visist and fly there. Name was Calvin Sigmon, has since passed. Was paralized and in a wheel chair. Model field was adjacent to a corn field. Was a real nice field.

From what I've heard, these guys run a tight program from sun up to sun down..nothing but 1 thrilling, hottly contested heat of racing after another. Expect to fly at least 8 times if you want to place in the limited and the unlimited categories.
Get lots of practice laps in with your best equipment several weeks in advance or else those buzzards will have you for lunch.

CP, You are thinking of the Julian Gold Cup race That was some hard core action. Anyone wanting to see what 200 looks like can come see it there!

Vic....Imagine not just what it takes equipment-wise to compete at 200 mph..but what it takes to throw in ample practice time at 200 mph..!

Rog, glad to hear you are back in the game and willing to organize those great days of 1/2A adventure, suspense, drama, the thrill of victory, agony of da feet...I still think it would be more fun if alcohol was involved.

Dude...did you REALLY need to show me that...?

A local legend [Tom Strom] mounts his servos in a bed of Shoe Goop and credits that with lessening the amount of mysterious failures that he has had to endure over 40 some odd years of racing fiberglass planes. Wipe down the servo and fuselage with acetone, then blob of Goop, squish servo into Goop. Neanderthal method...chances are you already know about it...you Caveman.

The yellow plane still lives but will hopefully be my ride to 200. Nelson LS powered street legal Q40.
The green one was the fastest smoothest flying thing I have built yet. I'm guessing it hit at 190 or so.

Yep, Rog, I'm still here too. Haven't been doing much flying lately but I am starting to get back to it a bit. The closest to 1/2A that I have now is a .10. I would love to get back to flying with the CC!

Brian,
It's good to see you post again. How is your daughter? Spence is not the neat little boy you guys remember. Heck, his voice is deeper than mine now.

Hey, Vic. Thanks. Anna and Abbie are doing well. They are dramatic and energetic just like they should be. Anna has a plane of her own although she is too afraid of crashing to actually fly it.

Hey Fireman! yeah the last thing I did fly was my rascal .061..added an os .10 to it to try it out as a float plane, tested it out at my friends with a pond, without the floats , I had flown it there before , only place to land was on the dam, well when it ran outof fuel it dropped like a nose heavy rock! with the .10 on it, I made it to the dam, but way too fast, it rolled into a bush really fast and yep that was my last flight,,talked to Bsarge the other day and hes interested too and not flying anything at the moment,...Rog

Rog...there's this thing they call "CG" that you got to check or else your planes will do that sort of thing every single time...!

My Dear, Dear Friends (and all youse other guys out there who also play with toy airplanes), Greetings.

My name is Raymond. You might remember me. But if your memory has been weakened by age - welcome to the club.

I pretty much fly electric models now - but only last weekend I broke out a trusty TD .020 for a couple of circuits around the pumpkin patch. A flying buddy flew a Novel-powered parasol model that was designed by Lee Renauld - but whose name I can't remember!

Maybe you'll be able to ask me for an autograph at the swap meet in November?

P.S. This is the first time I've been on RCUniverse in years - literally. So it's funny that I found this thread - must be some psychic bond that is still out there.

Hey Raymond, glad to see you back here.......nothing like the smell of 1/2A fuel and the sound of a good running Cox engine....... That parasol plane sounds like the RCM/Airtronics Q-Tee.

I finally got my Black Widow powered Airtronics S-Tee out Sunday for a few flights. It felt good to fly R/E 2-ch again, and the plane flew really well considering it hasn't flown in about 31 years.
