Hello everyone, I'm new to the sport and I now have the bug and can't stop buying planes. I need help though. I just had this SU-31 built and want to know if the recevier and transmitter are adequate for this plane. I have a spectrum DX7-S with the AR8000 receiver. The servos are JR8611. Dual servos on both tail surfaces.  If I eventually fly this plane 3D will it be too much for the recevier to handle. Please forgive me if I did not give enough details. Please advise.

if the plane has not maddined you might want a experinced giant scale flyer at your local club to give it a good look over .. some times as a new comer it's easy to not catch eveything ... thats just my openion ... [>:]

Go fly ... 4500 seems stupid big...

I do believe with NiMH larger packs have Higher internal resistance and IE cannot Burst as much current as the smaller pack's with less resistance... ...((((( in other words flying old-school battery’s you might want to choose smaller MaH packets over larger ones )))) IMO I would just buy new echoingly batters and not mess with that stuff.... next airplane project you might want to consider switching to A123 ( life) pack's vary user friendly vary light weight and vary high current output in comparison to NIMH ... but by all means your airplane will fly fine ... on those battery’s ....

A123's you don’t need regulators or anything fancy ... again you don’t need A123S to fly; Old battery's still work... I just don't see much point of buying new NiMH or NIcad .... IMO

Yeah, the battery and servos came out of a much bigger plane that only had one flight on it. It had a taxiing accident and had irreparable damage to the fiberglass fuse so he gave up on it and sold me the servos and battery pack. I got everything pretty cheap and figured I can upgrade the plane later if I wanted to.

Don't know who told you that.

ya I could be wrong Andy just what i was told ... that reistance went up with the MaH size of the pack... I was told the smaller pack's could burst current greater then the larger

when you think about it it kinda makes sense ... but I don't know it to be a fact and it wouldn't really wouldn't matter these day's with new battey tech being able to dischrage and insansely High rates .. the older packet regardless of size couldn't compeat ...

but I would be intrested to know if thats a fact that NiMh .. does pack size affect internal reistance ? 4500 seem's to be a vary large NiMh probly C cell ? maybe i got that wrong mabye the cell type affect's brust rate .. hell either way it's out dated ...

see ya at huck fest dude ...

The bigger the capacity the larger the current delivery capability.

I dropped NIMH years ago, never really benefitted from them and always seemed to loose charge or the pack failed premature..
just use quality A123 and nicad for ignition on 30 to 50cc size planes now. easy and reliable, some use single batt to power both, but seems controversial..

I use one A123 pack in all my 50cc planes, simple, light, hundreds of flights with no controversy.

The 4500 is a NIcad not a NIMH. Nonetheless I will change the 4500 to a A123 and the ignition to a NIcad. I don't want to risk anything if it's in my control.

Thanks for all the information!

I will have an experienced giant scale flyer look over and I will have him maiden it also.  All I have to do is drill and balance the prop. Which is another big task for me since this is all new to me.

I'm out of town for the weekend with the wife so the maiden will have to wait until we get back

I woulds asume so, controversy only came in when splitting this pack with ignition.
its been done many times without problems, but that maybe another topic again.
