The shoulder wing plane looks like it had the pylon or wing struts removed.

That is very possible. I dont have the models to look at first hand, since they are now owned by a fellow club member. He stated they were built roughly back in the 50's. .....Gene

Both were identified as, Yellowish orange one = Gasbag (1942) Flying Aces Mag & Darker orange one= PB-2 (1938) MAN mag....Gene

If you Google the PB-2, you'll see that the original had short struts between the wing and fuse:
