I recently acquired a used plane that was covered in stickers. Most came off without a problem but there was a big one on the fuse that left a lot of itself behind.

I tried the usual list of cleaners. 99% IP alcohol, acetone, WD-40, naphtha, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser - a little came off but mostly it just got smeared around. I had found a page titled 30 Helpful Items To Remove Sticky Adhesive Goo and I went back to it to read the replies at the bottom. Seems a lot of people had success with peanut butter when nothing else worked, so I decided to try it.

I don't quite know why or how, but it worked really well. Almost all of the goo is gone now and with a little more elbow grease I can take care of the last of it.

WD40 was very helpful in removing the peanut butter. I'll take more pictures when I get to the other side of the fuse.

Cool!! I use Trim Solvent and it works great, but stinks up the shop pretty bad.

I keep a tin of lighter fluid (naphtha) just for sticker adhesive removal.  Have heard the peanut butter trick but never tried it (works for chewing gum in hair as well, I am told).

Maybe your dog, if you had one, could have helped in the peanut butter removal......

Never mind the fact his or her mouth would have been glued shut

Charcoal lighter fluid works pretty well, break cleaner, carb cleaner, I have used ice cubs. It cooled it down and it lost the stickiness and wiped up to my surprise.

Peanut Butter is basically the organic method of cleaning off sticky. Basically the oil in the P-nut Butter  helps break down the oily, sticky. Same principle applies with "Dawn" cutting down the grease on Penguins. "Dawn" has petroleum in the formula and it helps break down petroleum on wildlife.Oil to clean off oil. Sounds strange but that's how it works.

Best sticky removal is Goo-Gone which is an acidic, lemon base. Only problem you might have is to get something to stick to that area again unless you can completely remove the Goo-Gone.

Hi Gang

What I have used that worked the very best for me, and I have yet to see the goo it won't clean is Prepsol, it's an automotive bodywork cleaner , it doesn't attack any plastic I have ever seen.  You can get it at any auto parts that sells auto body work supplies
