Status: offline 		I'm helping a friend get his engine running after it's sat for a while.  I've got it running but the idle is waaaaaaaay too fast.  The throttle servo looks fine to me and the trim is down.  My thought is the idle adjustment.  I set it to factory break in settings but it's still running fast, it's like it's wide open at idle.

Status: offline 		Remove the air filter and check the throttle gap...should be 0.5-1mm. If that is correct but it is still revving high, then the mixture is lean, richen the LSN.
What engine is it?

Status: offline 		I see Thunder Tigre 27 on the side, The exhaust dumps out the back of the engine.  I've looked at that gap and it looks about right to me, I guess i'll try getting it smaller and see.

Status: offline 		I can not find a ThunderTiger .27 with a quick search, can you put some pictures up?
Is it a slide or barrel carb and how many adjustment screws are there?
Remember that if the gap is near and it still revs high then the mixture is too lean.

Status: offline 		I am good, thanks..hope you are too, been a long time since I saw you around these parts. Somerset is way down in the sunny (!) SouthWest, whereas Kent is over to the East....not so sunny.

The plot thickens then...looks like it is possibly the same engine....let us see if you are right.

Status: offline 		Get the "gap" as small as you can while still being able to start the car. If that does not work, check the clutch spring(s). I had this problem recently, and it turned out I broke a clutch spring. Let us know how you do.

To clarify, is it running fast or wide open.  Two very different things.

Status: offline 		Prop top has it right, it has a blue head on it though but that's it.  It sounds like it's running wide open.  but like i said the carb isn't in the wide open position.

Status: offline 		There might be some sticky-gooey old oil residue gumming up the works? Maybe try flushing out the carb w/ fresh fuel...you might need to pull the high speed needle out to do this throughly...and clean the slide too...

My thought is that the fuel passages in the carb might be partially restricted by old gummy fuel? (causing a lean condition...and maybe a sticking slide )

...and richening the screws (anti-clockwise) makes no difference?

Then I agree that it is probably some gummed up fuel, could be in the carb/tank/pipes/exhaust nipple.

We know the engine is running lean if the gap is small enough...so either we are not supplying enough fuel or excess air is getting in. My guess is fuel starvation rather than an air leak as you say the engine has not been used for a while.

Status: offline 		I set it all to the models book that came with it, not the engine book.  I plan on tinkering with it again today. took the carb off, and opened the head up and sprayed carb cleaner in it to try and clean it out, even sprayed the muffler.

Thats the same engine (though with a different color head yet..) that comes in the alligator tours r/c airboat. Same head design and carburetor, just a longer crankshaft. Its too bad SuperTigres aren't made in Italy anymore.

Glad you got it fixed up. No need to feel stupid, the simplest things are often easily missed.
